Now that school is back in session I figured it would be a good time to talk about how to sharpen our kids’ (and our own) brains!

Omega-3 fatty acids in fish are the building blocks for brain cells. Ever hear the saying “Fish is brain food”? Now you know why! Also the EPA and DHA in fish help to prevent inflammation in the brain, reducing depression. Keeping you in great spirits helps a lot!
You name it blueberries, blackberries, strawberries…all contain antioxidants that kill the free radicals in your brain. Those stinkin’ free-radicals can make your brain age prematurely and we don’t want that!
Then vitamin D in milk also helps reduce inflammation, which reduces instances of depression.
(you can substitute beans if you don’t eat beef) The iron in beef/bean, when ingested, creates dopamine in our bodies. Dopamine helps us learn…I think I will be adding some beans to the boys’ meals for sure!
