8 Tips to Help Keep Your Children Healthy

Healthy children usually grow up into healthy adults, and teaching your kids some healthy habits while they’re young will help them to learn habits they’ll use for life. But how can you keep your kids as healthy as possible?

Keep your children healthy

Below are some tips to lead you in the right direction.

Tips to Keep Your Children Healthy!

  1. Find a good doctor. A doctor that you trust and that your children feel comfortable with is essential. Unfortunately, kids have to visit the doctor often, from vaccinations to help cure a sore throat. Whether it’s an ear infection or their measles shot, it’s important that children learn that the doctor isn’t scary. This will help them to feel comfortable visiting the doctor as they grow up.
  2. Make sure they’re getting enough sleep. Children need a lot of sleep to help them grow, and they’ll need to be well-rested in order to focus at school. Set a bedtime and stay with it. A bedtime routine can help children to settle better and go to sleep on time.
  3. Encourage healthy eating. Aim to have around 80% of what your kids eat to be healthy, and allow around 20% treats so they don’t feel like they’re missing out or worry about treats. Offer them vegetables and fruit in an array of colors and allow them to be part of choosing what they try. Ask older children to get involved in the cooking to encourage them to try more food.
  4. Avoid allergens. Thanks to rising pollution, asthma is becoming more common. To make sure kids can breathe easily, watch what they’re exposed to. Change filters in your air conditioning, clean up dust, and watch out for signs of reactions to pet fur. Air quality is more important than you think. In extreme cases, breathing in substances like asbestos can make you very ill, so you’d need dependable mesothelioma attorneys
  5. Make exercise fun. Children shouldn’t worry about their weight, but exercise is important for health. Find enjoyable ways to keep them active so they learn to think of exercise as fun. Encourage them to play sports, and do things like walking or cycling together. Send them to fun classes like ballet or karate.
  6. Help them stay hydrated. Hydration is important, and teaching children how to stay hydrated can be a big help. Lead by example and make sure you’re drinking plenty of water yourself and not just things like coffee. Dehydration makes it harder to concentrate, so make sure they have easy access to water and enjoy drinking it.
  7. Get fresh air. Open the windows at home whenever the weather is warm enough, and fill the house with indoor plants to keep the air clean and free of allergens. At the weekends, get out of town and visit the countryside. This is great for activities and for getting some clean air in your lungs.
  8. Minimize the amount of sugar they eat. Kids often have a serious sweet tooth, but processed sugars are bad for them in more ways than just rotting their teeth. Sugar can impact their immune system. Instead, encourage them to enjoy snacks that are naturally sweet, like fruit.

Have you been to Delray?

We woke up early the first day to explore what Atlantic Avenue has to offer.

Delray Beach, known as the Village by the Sea, is the perfect place for a little getaway - it's filled with boutiques 🛍, restaurants🍲, and don't forget the beautiful beach! ⛱

👬 I am married for 18 years & am a super proud mom of two boys and one furry daughter, Stella 🐕

✍ I love to write and never really thought I did until I started blogging 13 years ago. It started out as Pellerini, morphed for a very short time to Modern Xennial, and has been The Modern Mom Lounge for 8 months. No, I'm not rebranding again LOL

💓 I love pilates. Like LOVE pilates.

🏹 When I was little I was shot in the face with a bow and arrow.
OK, so I wasn’t really shot in the face with a bow and arrow, but I wanted to see 1 – if you were really paying attention and 2 – to make my close friends and family laugh.  I did tell my parents that I was shot in the face in summer camp when I was little.  I started with drama at a very young age

I got to wake up to this gorgeous view of the mountains ⛰😍

This weekend I'm definitely taking advantage of no scheduled games - sleeping late, massage, relaxing, going through the 9,000 magazines piling up on my coffee table...

What are your weekend plans?
