I love Halloween because its one of those holidays I can be a bit creative. I like to send the boys to school with some treats for their classmates, usually something Pinterest-y. This year I truly had good intentions, but time got away from me and next thing I know it is Thursday and I have nothing done.
Thanks to the Pinterest gods once again, I found this GREAT craft idea for the boys’ classmates…no intricate goodie bags for me this year.
Here’s what you need
White crepe paper (streamers) – You can find this easily at the dollar store or Party City.
Googly eyes – Don’t ask me why, but I have a lot of these. I think they are from my scrapbooking days or something, but if you don’t happen to have a bag of googly eyes hanging around (I mean, who really does?!) you can pick them up at any craft store. Just make sure that you get enough for 2 eyes per candy bar.
Hershey bars – I purchased the standard sized ones that come in 6-packs at the grocery store, but I am sure you can use any size aside from the nuggets (they are too small).
Black construction paper
Glue
How to Make Your Hershey Bar Mummies
- Wrap crepe paper around one of the chocolate bars to see how much you need per bar. Cut the length needed and then cut however many more strands of crepe you need for the number of bars you will be decorating.
- Cut out 1 1/2″ by 3/4″ rectangles out of the black construction paper – enough rectangles for the number of bars you will be decorating.
- Glue two googly eyes to each rectangle, then glue one rectangle to each of the bars.
- Wrap the crepe paper around each of the bars and secure in the back with glue (or tape).
Voila – Your Last Minute Classroom Halloween Treats!
Here is the finished product. I have to say I am somewhat proud of myself! I just have to make sure that none go missing before Monday…

Thank you Heidi! I try to be crafty with the kids – it gets them using their hands and not on their electronics!

Thanks Janine! Our school doesn’t allow homemade treats due to allergies, but still wanted to keep the holiday fun. The Hershey bars were perfect!
