6 Uses for Vinegar Besides Salad Dressing!

The only other use I had for vinegar, besides the usual salad dressing, was when I had to de-calcify my clothing steamer.  That was a smelly ordeal, but it worked!  Wondering if there were any other uses for vinegar since I had seen its “abilities” with unclogging my steamer, I did some research.

VINEGAR AND YOUR COMPLEXION

I suffer from hyperpigmentation.  Take apple cider vinegar and apply it to the brown spots for about 10 minutes a few times a day and that should reduce the discoloration.

VINEGAR AND YOUR HAIR

Vinegar can be used as a deep conditioner or dandruff treatment.  For the deep conditioning route, combine 2 tablespoons olive oil, 1 teaspoon apple cider vinegar and three egg whites.  Massage into your hair – roots to ends, cover with a shower cap and let sit for 30 minutes before rinsing out.  Have dandruff?  Apple cider vinegar and water (50%/50%) rubbed onto your scalp will help!

VINEGAR AND COLD SORES

Prone to cold sores?  To reduce the swelling and paid, dunk a cotton swap in white vinegar and place on the cold sore three times a day.

VINEGAR AND YOUR JEWELRY

Is your silver jewelry a bit tarnished?  Mix together 1/2 cup white vinegar and 2 tablespoons baking soda.  Let the jewelry soak for about 2 to 3 hours. Wash the solution off with cold water and dry with a soft cloth.

VINEGAR AND YOUR DISPOSAL

My garbage disposal stinks, so I was super happy to find this tip: mix equal parts vinegar and water in a bowl, pour the solution into an ice cube tray and freeze.  Every week or so, drop a few of the cubes into the disposal, followed by cold water.

Do you use vinegar for any other household needs?

I’d love to hear about them!
