What to Consider When Buying a New Dog Bed

dog bed

As any dog owner knows, the bed you buy for your dog is hugely important. It’s where your dog relaxes, feels safe and goes to sleep at night. If your dog’s bed doesn’t offer the comfort that it should and it doesn’t satisfy their needs, it’s time to find a new one. But there are a few things that need to be taken into account when deciding on which bed is going to be right for your dog. And that’s what we’re going to discuss now, so read on to find out more.

Coverage for Dogs That Like to Hide

There are some dogs that prefer to hide away and be enclosed in a space. This is usually because it gives them a greater sense of safety and security that they wouldn’t otherwise get from a regular dog bed. If that’s something that’s also true for your dog, look for a larger bed that has some sort of cover or canopy, and they’ll surely appreciate it.

Their Preferred Sleeping Position

Another thing you’ll want to consider is the way in which your dog usually prefers to sleep. This is something that’s usually very specific and differs from dog to dog. Simply observe how your dog seems to prefer to sleep in different situations and then find a bed that offers them the size and space to do that. Dogs that like to curl up in a ball, for example, will probably prefer a circular bed.

Ease of Cleaning

You’re going to want to keep your dog’s bed as clean as it can be, and that’s why you should think carefully about the materials used to make it. There is no right or wrong option here; it all depends on how much you care about ease of cleaning. Ideally, it’ll have a removable and washable cover as these tend to make your life a little easier.

The Feeling of Security it Offers

It’s important to think about the different ways in which the shape and size of the better impacts the feeling of security that your dog gets from it.  There are Calming Dog Beds that are specifically designed to calm your dog down and make them feel secure when using their dog bed. You might want to consider that if you have an anxious dog.

Padding or Filling

The padding or filling that’s added to the bed will impact how easy it is for your dog to relax in it. Firm padded is preferred by some dogs, especially slightly older ones as it offers more support. But softer filling tends to be better for younger dogs as it’s more flexible and adaptable.

There are lots of things that need to be taken into account if you’re going to find the ideal bed for your dog. Every dog is unique and has a unique set of preferences when it comes to how they rest and relax, so be sure to take those into account when buying a new dog bed.

We woke up early the first day to explore what Atlantic Avenue has to offer.

Delray Beach, known as the Village by the Sea, is the perfect place for a little getaway - it's filled with boutiques 🛍, restaurants🍲, and don't forget the beautiful beach! ⛱

👬 I am married for 18 years & am a super proud mom of two boys and one furry daughter, Stella 🐕

✍ I love to write and never really thought I did until I started blogging 13 years ago. It started out as Pellerini, morphed for a very short time to Modern Xennial, and has been The Modern Mom Lounge for 8 months. No, I'm not rebranding again LOL

🏹 When I was little I was shot in the face with a bow and arrow.
OK, so I wasn’t really shot in the face with a bow and arrow, but I wanted to see 1 – if you were really paying attention and 2 – to make my close friends and family laugh.  I did tell my parents that I was shot in the face in summer camp when I was little.  I started with drama at a very young age
