Interesting And Unique Ways To Make Your Home Yours

If you have just moved into a new property then you may be looking for ways to make it yours. A new home can feel like an empty shell so it is important you fill it with things that make it feel like yours. You want to be able to look forward to coming home rather than coming back to a place that feels cold and empty. Take a look below to find some new ideas that may give you some inspiration.

Change The Locks

The very first thing you should do to make your home feel like yours is change the locks. The last thing you want is someone walking into your brand new home when you are still settling in. This could cause you to not want to live there anymore. Find a great locksmith to install new locks on the doors and maybe the windows, they should be able to give you a great price for this. Make sure you shop around for a locksmith who has good reviews from previous users and customers.

Furnishings

You may not think so but the furnishings you have within your home can make all the difference. They can transform your home from looking tired and empty to feeling warm and cozy. Take a look at your decor or think about the decor you will be putting around your house and match your furnishings to that. It is important they match so they don’t stand out when you walk into the room. You can throw some cushions and a blanket on your sofa to instantly transform it. Take a look at some ideas online if you want to see how other people used furnishings to jazz up the place.

Flooring

The flooring throughout your home can mean the difference between an easy life and a more difficult cleaning schedule. If you have carpets then you may want to change these to hardwood flooring, should your budget allow. Carpets can hold onto grime, dirt, and allergens for a long while so if the previous owners had pets and you’re allergic then you may find yourself sneezing an awful lot. If you want to change it to hardwood flooring then you can do this yourself or hire someone to do it for you.

There are some gorgeous alternatives if you don’t want carpet or hardwood flooring throughout your home. You might want something different in certain rooms, an example of this could be your entrance hall. You might decide to have carpet or hardwood elsewhere and mosaic floor tiles in your entrance hall. This will create an amazing effect that you can see as you walk through the front door.

Lighting

Finally, the lighting you have in your home is important. If you want a big light on the ceiling then this will create a large amount of light in that room. However, if you want to chill in the evenings then it may be better to install some wall lights or use a table lamp for a less harsh lighting effect. It isn’t just about the type of lights you install, it is also about the lightbulbs. You need to make sure that you are using eco-friendly bulbs that are not only friendly on your wallet but also the environment.

SATURDAYS ARE FOR STELLA ❤️

Oh, hello there 👋 in case you’re new to my feed, this is Stella. She is an almost 3 year old goldendoodle from Stella, NC. No, we didn’t name her Stella because of the city she was born in. That was a complete coincidence!

She goes by many names - Stella, Stelladoodle, Stu Diddy, Stu, and Moose. Don’t ask 😂 (and whether she responds to any of those names is completely up to her.)

She’s finally graduating the puppy stages (I hope), but it is known that if you’re over and
👟you leave your shoes unattended
👜bag open
🧦socks on the floor
🧻towels in reaching distance to her counter surfing
🏃‍♀️🏃🏃‍♂️you’ll be running circles around the house after her. Don’t say I didn’t warn you 😉

Today we celebrated the life of Heather McMechan, someone I am eternally grateful came into my life, and devastated has left this earth. The church was filled with people that loved her - not one person that crossed her path couldn’t NOT love her.

Forever in my heart ❤️
