3 Ways To Teach Your Children About Financial Independence

It’s never too early to start teaching your children the importance of earning their own money. In fact, the earlier they learn these skills, the better off they will be in the long run. There are many ways to teach your children about financial independence, and we will discuss three of the best methods in this blog post.

An Allowance Is A Good Way To Start.

One of the most common ways parents teach their children about money is by giving them an allowance. This can be a great way to start, as it gives children a set amount of money they can use however they please. Additionally, it allows them to make mistakes without serious financial consequences. Of course, the allowance you give should be based on your child’s age and maturity level. For instance, a younger child may only receive a few dollars per week, while an older child may receive a larger amount.

Additionally, you may want to tie allowance to certain chores or tasks that need to be completed. This will teach your child that money is earned through hard work. Finally, be sure to have a discussion with your child about how they plan to spend or save their allowance. This will help instill healthy financial habits from a young age.

Help Them To Begin A Side-Hustle:

One of the best ways to teach your kids about the value of money is to help them start their own side-hustle. This could be as simple as setting up a lemonade stand on hot summer days or cutting grass for neighbors. Not only will this give them a taste of what it’s like to be an entrepreneur, but they’ll also start to see how they can use their skills and time to earn money. Plus, it’s an excellent way for them to learn about budgeting and to save as they’ll need to think about the costs of setting up their business, for example, buying supplies to make homemade lemonade and then factor in their profits. This will help them to understand that they need to be strategic with their money to make a profit.

Explain The Difference Between Wants And Needs:

This is a difficult concept for children to grasp, but it is crucial. Wants are things that we would like to have but don’t necessarily need. Needs are things that we can’t live without. It’s important to teach children that they can’t always have everything they want, but they will always have what they need. One way to explain this is by using the example of a new toy. A child may see a new toy they really want, but you, as the parent, know they don’t need it. This is a perfect opportunity to teach your child about wants vs. needs. You can explain that the toy is a want and that they need to save money if they want it.

In conclusion, these are just a few of the best ways to teach your children the importance of earning their own money. Starting early and using real-life examples can help your child develop healthy financial habits that will last a lifetime.

SATURDAYS ARE FOR STELLA ❤️

Oh, hello there 👋 in case you’re new to my feed, this is Stella. She is an almost 3 year old goldendoodle from Stella, NC. No, we didn’t name her Stella because of the city she was born in. That was a complete coincidence!

She goes by many names - Stella, Stelladoodle, Stu Diddy, Stu, and Moose. Don’t ask 😂 (and whether she responds to any of those names is completely up to her.)

She’s finally graduating the puppy stages (I hope), but it is known that if you’re over and
👟you leave your shoes unattended
👜bag open
🧦socks on the floor
🧻towels in reaching distance to her counter surfing
🏃‍♀️🏃🏃‍♂️you’ll be running circles around the house after her. Don’t say I didn’t warn you 😉

Today we celebrated the life of Heather McMechan, someone I am eternally grateful came into my life, and devastated has left this earth. The church was filled with people that loved her - not one person that crossed her path couldn’t NOT love her.

Forever in my heart ❤️
