OY is all I have to say. Want to know how I was woken up this morning?
“Babe, it’s 7:24!”
That would be my husband, in somewhat of a shrill voice, telling me that I was running SUPER late. I didn’t believe him at first because my alarm clock said 6:24 – OMG I forgot to change the time on my alarm clock. Luckily, and for some very odd reason, last night I picked my outfit for today out and hung it on the closet door. I never do that. I also showered last night – I usually do so every morning, not night. Maybe subconsciously I knew that I was going to oversleep?
Why is there even Daylight Savings Time????
Long, long ago Daylight Saving Time was implemented a long time ago to give farmers more day light to farm in relation to routine working hours of other industries.
- In 1918 it helped to save fuel and electricity (energy) but during World War I was repealed in 1919.
- Reinstated again during World War II also as a method to save energy
- In 1973 it was officially established for use in the winter season, for the same purpose, a fuel/energy saving measure. De ja vous?
So basically the argument still in tact today is that DST is to help save energy. We are more active in the early evening than we are in the morning (for sure!) so if it is lighter later rather than at 6:00 am, we would not need to use lighting, for example, until after 7:00 pm (as opposed to 6:00 pm before DST).
Personally, in today’s day and age of the global age of technological advances, I don’t think it really affects us at all. Well it does – it confuses us and makes me scramble in the morning!
What are your thoughts on DST? Post below!
