Why Catching Up With Friends Is Vital After Having Kids

When you become a parent, your life changes in ways you never imagined. Suddenly, your time is no longer your own, and you have to put your child’s needs first. This can be difficult, especially if you don’t have any other adults to help you out. So it’s important to make time for yourself and your friends. Here are four reasons why catching up with friends is vital after having kids.

1) You Need to Talk About Your Feelings

Having kids can be overwhelming. You might feel like you’re not doing a good job or never going to get a break. Talking to your friends can help you remember that you’re not alone in this. It’s normal to feel overwhelmed and stressed out sometimes. Talking to someone who understands what you’re going through can be a huge relief. Even if you think you’re handling it well, talking through your feelings can help you process them and make sure you’re really okay.

If you don’t have anyone to talk to, there are other options. You can join a parent’s group or look for online forums where you can chat with other parents. Just remember that it’s important to talk about how you’re feeling.

2) Friends Can Provide Perspective on Things

It’s easy to get caught up in the day-to-day of parenting. You might start to feel like you’re never going to get a break to relax or that your kids will never listen to you. But when you talk to your friends, they can provide some much-needed perspective. They can remind you that this is just a phase and that things will eventually improve. They can also offer advice on how to deal with certain situations.

3) Meeting Up With Friends Provides a Change From the Usual Routine

When you’re a parent, your life can feel very monotonous. You might feel like you’re always doing the same things, day in and day out. Spending time with your friends can help break up the monotony. Even if you just meet up and try new smoothie bowl places or coffee shops, this change of scenery can do you a world of good.

It can also be fun to do something different with your friends. Maybe you can go on a hike, or go to a museum. Doing something new and exciting with your friends can help you feel like yourself again.

4) Friends Can Get You to Laugh a Little

Parenting can be tough, and you might not feel like you’re laughing as much as you used to. But spending time with your friends can help bring laughter back into your life. They can make you forget about your worries for a little while and just enjoy their company. Additionally, laughing has been shown to have some great health benefits. So, if you’re feeling stressed out, spending time with your friends can be a great way to relax and de-stress.

Having kids is a wonderful thing, but it’s also a lot of work. It’s important to make time for your friends, so you can stay sane and happy. So go ahead and schedule that coffee date, or plan a night out with your friends. You deserve it.

SATURDAYS ARE FOR STELLA ❤️

Oh, hello there 👋 in case you’re new to my feed, this is Stella. She is an almost 3 year old goldendoodle from Stella, NC. No, we didn’t name her Stella because of the city she was born in. That was a complete coincidence!

She goes by many names - Stella, Stelladoodle, Stu Diddy, Stu, and Moose. Don’t ask 😂 (and whether she responds to any of those names is completely up to her.)

She’s finally graduating the puppy stages (I hope), but it is known that if you’re over and
👟you leave your shoes unattended
👜bag open
🧦socks on the floor
🧻towels in reaching distance to her counter surfing
🏃‍♀️🏃🏃‍♂️you’ll be running circles around the house after her. Don’t say I didn’t warn you 😉

Today we celebrated the life of Heather McMechan, someone I am eternally grateful came into my life, and devastated has left this earth. The church was filled with people that loved her - not one person that crossed her path couldn’t NOT love her.

Forever in my heart ❤️
