You know you have one…that drawer that houses a bit of everything. I have one (or a couple I should say). I get into the groove of cleaning it out…trying to put all of the random contents back in their true homes. The drawer(s) stays clean for all of one week and then gets inundated with receipts, random markers, and crayons, cut coupons hoping to make it to my coupon organizer, loose keys…just about anything.
I am trying very hard to keep things in order, partly because I am OCD and partly because I want when we do move into the new house, to have as little crap as possible around the house. (I am already dreading packing and that is not for like 6 – 8 months.)
I love to get ideas from websites and magazines first – there are so many options for organization out there! Here are some great ideas to help you organize your “catch-all” drawer:
You can purchase this at Target!
This organizer is great because there are different sized compartments that you can store many unruly items in! My main junk drawer (how sad is that – I have a main junk drawer and then a secondary one – OYE) is located in the kitchen. I want to keep pens and pencils, some desk supplies like paperclips and a scissor, scotch tape, coupon organizer, etc. This metal mesh drawer organizer is perfect for these little items.
These beauties can be bought at Target as well!
Another favorite go-to for organizing is The Container Store. There is no brick and mortar store by my home, so I resort to their website, which is great.
These organizers are great because you can cater these compartments to your needs and to the size of your drawer…they are interlocking and an inexpensive option too! (Click on the photo to get more info and purchase if you’d like.)
The bamboo versions are a little more expensive and are not interlocking but are GORGEOUS! 🙂
My junk drawer in the kitchen should be just that – a depository for miscellaneous items that I will need to use in the kitchen. It shouldn’t really hold Pokemon games and Bakugan figurines. This is a good guide when you start your purge!
Good luck with your mission to organize! If you have any other cool organization tips, please post them in the comments section. I’d love to hear from you!
(please note that I am not in any way affiliated with Target – although they should start charging me rent, I am there so often – nor The Container Store. These are my own reviews and words 🙂
