Every morning when I open my inbox, I am greeted with my two dictionary.com emails! This is such a great way to expand your vocabulary. It is free to sign up ( click here) and you can customize what you receive.
One email I get is the standard “Word of the Day”. The other email is the “Spanish Word of the Day”. So great!
My word of the day, for today, is Mensch (I love that word!!!) Here is the definition:
\mench\, noun: A decent, upright, mature, and responsible person.
They then use the word in a few sentences so that you can get the hang of it along with its history:
Mensch entered English from Yiddish in the 1950s. In Yiddish, it meant “man, human being” and had the positive associations that carried into English. It is related to the German word mensch.
They also have crossword puzzles, and the thesaurus has been a handy tool for me when I am writing copy for work!
Check out the site and tell me what you think!
