A Modern Mom’s CES 2020 Recap

CES 2020 recap

My CES 2020 recap is coming fresh off a four day trip to Las Vegas!  It was filled with aisles and aisles of new technology products, many conversations with interesting people, and a lot of great food (stay tuned for an article about some of the hot spots to eat when in Sin City).

Top CES 2020 Innovations

A lot has changed since my CES 2019 recap.  Since there were so many amazing innovations, I’ve narrowed it down a bit (it was very hard!).

Transportation

Some of the most amazing innovations are in the automobile vertical.  From even-more-advanced electric cars to the self-driving variety which we have been hearing about for the past 10 years.

CES 2020 Recap Hyundai and Uber Collaboration

I was very impressed with the Hyundai and Uber collaboration.  Could you imagine being transported in a self-driving helicopter/drone to your final destination?

Pets

I love animals, so when I see technology put into play for the better of our furry family members, I am all for it! CES 2020 was very pet-friendly.

Imagine a treat dispenser that is also an HD pet camera, 180 degree lens, and voice commanded?  This Petcube Bites 2 was part of the Amazon booth since it is Alexa-friendly.  What isn’t these days?

What about an automatic feeder with similar capabilities?  Arf Pet offers just that, along with portion control, voice recordings, and up to four scheduled feedings per day.

iKuddle cat litter box

Cat lovers rejoice with the newest in litter boxes.  I saw a few iterations, with this one by iKuddle catching my eye because of its design.  This littler box not only cleans itself and helps to reduce odor, it packages the clumps in individual baggies.  I so wish I had this when our cat Harley was alive.

For Kids (Or the Young At Heart)

One of my favorite toys growing up were LEGOs.  I would put the sets together like a puzzle, following the step-by-step directions.  Once I’d had enough of playing with the set, I would take it apart and build something new, straight out of my imagination.

Today’s LEGOs are mirror images of the toys I loved from the past, but technology has stepped in.  There are devices that can bring your creations to life AND have them move to music!

Board Games at CES

Board games, such as this one above, work in tandem with Alexa to make the gaming experience even more exciting!

LG Dual Screen Smartphone Fortnite

My boys would be on me like white on rice to get their hands on one of these dual screen smartphones.  I saw a few different versions, the most popular being LG and Samsung.

The only update we would recommend is to be able to open, for example, two Excel spreadsheets at the same time.  Currently, the software only allows you to open one file from each app.  (Of course, my kids could care less…they just want to be able to play Fortnite on it!)

Televisions

What would my CES 2020 recap be without a snapshot of the future of televisions?

Samsung TV turned Framed Art

Samsung The Serif TV
This Samsung TV has been super hot in Europe, and recently introduced in the United States.

TVs have come a long way.  Each year I visit CES, there is a bigger and better rendition of the television.  This year I was pleasantly surprised to see how brands such as LG and Samsung are designing televisions to become more like art and furniture!

Aside from all of the walking and talking, I did get in some quality tourist time.  Stay tuned to Pellerini for a recap of some of the best places to dine when on and off the Las Vegas Strip!

That pet feeder is so goofy! I have to wonder though…
In relieving you of the responsibility of being there to feed your pet, doesn’t it also take a bit of the FUN and LOVE out of the process? Or, maybe it ADDS to it, allowing your time with your pet to be ONLY the fun times, and not the chores of maintenance.
