As the weather (slowly) gets warmer and Spring approaches, one of the things that comes to mind is gardening. Whether you are gardening fruit and veggies or prized roses, you need to wear the right clothing. You don’t have to sacrifice fashion to be comfortable and functional in the garden! It’s time to find the perfect gardening clothes.
Here are some stylish gardening clothes options to add to your gardening wardrobe!
AN AMAZING HAT
There are two schools of thought when it comes to what type of hat is best for gardening. Some people like a baseball cap and others like a full brimmed hat, especially to protect your neck from the sun’s rays. Below are a few of each that I like:
A WHITE COTTON T SHIRT
A white cotton t-shirt is part of my mom-iform (mom uniform). Anything and everything goes with a white T – from leggings, to jeans, to a sequins mini skirt. In the case of gardening, a 100% cotton white t-shirt is great for a few reasons:
- It can be easily bleached if you get dirt on it.
- It is white, which will not attract the sun’s hot rays while you are planting.
- 100% cotton is breathable.
A SUPER CUTE APRON
Aprons are an amazing invention. They keep your clothing clean while you garden, cook, etc. You can store whatever you need in the handy pockets. They come in so many different colors and patterns. Here are some that caught my eye:

PANTS
You’d think that wearing shorts would be appropriate when gardening because more than likely it’s going to be warm out. BUT that is not the case! It’s best to wear long pants that cover your legs so that you protect them from scratches and cuts that may occur when pruning, etc. Denim is very durable – here are a few pairs of jeans that I like! (Most of them already have holes, so if you add a few others while gardening, it will just look natural.)
GLOVES
Protect your hands fashionably with these super cute gardening gloves!
SUNSCREEN
Sunscreen is a must if you are going to be outside, gardening or not. There are so many different kinds out there, but here are some of my favorites!
SHOES
While researching the proper attire for gardening, I came across a few websites that recommended Hunter boots! I love Hunter boots! Here are a few of my picks, but there are so many different colors and prints to choose from! I’ve also included some shoes that are distinctly made for gardening (although they aren’t as cute).

My parents are an avid gardener though I still have to try my hands on gardening , but I think I might stay away from wearing whites as I love my whites and can’t see them getting stained again and again. I might opt for other light colored fabrics.

Other light-colored fabrics would work well too, Ayushi!

Thanks for the tips. I usually just use old clothes (that I no longer wear out) when I’m gardening. A large brimmed hat is something I should probably get for better sun protection.

Great idea to wear old clothes while gardening, Tayo! I definitely recommend a large brimmed hat to protect your face and neck from the sun.
