Super Easy to Make Patriotic Fruit Salad

July 4th is around the corner – the perfect time to get together with family and friends! I am all about creating something that is indicative of the holiday (also something a little on the healthy side because there’s always so much junk food around).
My patriotic fruit salad has been a hit each and every time I make it – with the adults and the KIDS (that’s a huge win within itself!). It is extremely easy to make.
Here’s what you’ll need:
- Star-shaped cookie cutter
- Blueberries (amount depends on the number of guests expected)
- Watermelon
- Lychee
This is all you have to do:
- Cut the watermelon into slices. I used a seedless watermelon, so if you are using a seeded one, you can pick the seeds out if you’d like.
- With the star-shaped cookie cutter, make as many stars as you can. You can save the extra watermelon to make watermelon water (or watermelon-infused vodka for the after party).
- Clean the blueberries. We found some nice-sized ones at the farmer’s market – they were really yummy too!
- Peel the lychee and remove the pits. Luckily, there was a stand set up near our house selling lychee – so odd, BUT perfect timing!
- Put all ingredients on a tray or into a bowl.
You’re done! You could always swap out the watermelon for strawberries or raspberries (but then you wouldn’t have the super cute stars).
I have never tasted a lychee. This is a dish that I want to make for the 4th of July.
OK now this is a super fruit salad, I love how you have given it a patriotic twist as well. Such a neat idea!
Thank you, Sarah! I always like to find a twist to our dishes for the holidays!
What a great salad. I’ve never heard of lychee, but it is perfect to add white to your patriotic salad. I’ll have to give it a try. Is it sweet like a berry?
Thank you, Heidi! There are different types of lychee, but for the most part, they are sweet!
Such a great idea for a salad. So festive and perfect for the 4th of July. I love it when you can find recipes that incorporate red, white and blue!
Thank you!! 🙂
This is such a cool take on a fruit salad. Off to add this to our picnics
Thank you, Cassie!
That is a fun salad to make for the holidays. The 4th of July isn’t the 4th without some form of watermelon.
I agree, Rosey! Watermelon is a staple for the 4th!
What a wonderful salad! I love the idea for the watermelon, the star-cut out is such a nice idea. Thanks for sharing! 🙂
Thank you! You can actually use any shape cookie cutter too!

I love watermelon, especially this time of the year. Pinning for later this looks so cool and refreshing.
You can use any shape cookie cutter for the watermelon – it can be used for any holiday, or any day for that matter 😉

Lychee gives the patriotic salad such a nice twist! I love any fruit during the summer months and this one is cute enough to celebrate for the holiday!
I thought the lychee was a fun twist too, Ada!

Nancy, I love lychee too! I was introduced to it a few years ago and buy some every time I go to the local market!
