One of the nice things about winter is snuggling up all warm and cozy at home while the weather does its thing outside, It’s a great opportunity to spend more time with family where you can just relax and enjoy each other’s company.
Of course, it can be hard to relax and enjoy the winter at home if your home is not comfy and cozy, which is why I’ve put together some ideas to help you ensure your home is just that: comfy and cozy.
Get the heating serviced
A professional heat pump service is a really good thing to have in winter because it will ensure that your heating system is working at optimum, which will ensure your home is as warm and cozy as you need it to be all through the winter. The last thing you want is for the heat pump to give u the ghost in the bleak midwinter!
Use a warm color scheme
Some colors suggest warmth better than others, and as a result, they can make your home feel warmer and cozier in the winter months too. Things like red blankets, orange curtains, and brown rugs, are all warm and welcoming and ideal for this time of year. So, you don’t have to completely redecorate, just bring in some warm-colored accessories to the space instead.
Layer up
Just as layering your clothing helps you to stay warm and cozy when you venture out in the winter, layering up your home decor can help to keep you comfy and cozy in the winter months too. Adding an extra blanket to your bed or an Afghan to the couch, will really help to keep you warm this winter, as will layering rugs upon carpets, especially when it comes to keeping your feet warm when you step out of bed in the morning! The more layers and textures you have in the house, the cozier you will feel.
Use ambient lighting
Ambient lighting, like the light from a candle’s flame or a dimmer switch, helps to create a diffused, warm glow that will definitely make you feel cozier in your home in the winter months, It’s also less harsh on the eyes at a time when the evenings are typically much darker. Choose beautiful winter-scented candles like pumpkin spice and cinnamon, and that will add to the comfort and coziness even more.
Move the furniture
If your furniture is not already orientated around your fireplace, if you have one, then moving it so that is the case, is a really easy way to add comfort and coziness. Three’s nothing like the roar of a fire and the flickering of flames to help you feel really fuzzy and glowing inside and out!
Bring the outdoors in
Add pine cones and berries to your winter displays to bring the spirit of the season indoors where it can warm your heart and make you feel cozy.
The winter months are so much easier to bear when your home is comfortable and cozy, so what are you waiting for? Make it happen.
