5 Gardening Tasks You Should Never Attempt Yourself

You can carry out many gardening tasks without the help of a professional. However, there are certain cases where you may want to think twice before attempting a task yourself. Certain tasks can be dangerous if you’re not trained or don’t have the right equipment. Below are a few examples of gardening tasks where it’s generally safer to hire a professional.

Installing outdoor electrics

DIY electrical work indoors is often best avoided – let alone outdoor electrical work! When installing sockets and wiring outdoors, you have to consider the risk of water exposure and weather damage. It’s often far safer to electrician with experience in outdoor electrics if you’re installing outdoor sockets or installing electrical lighting running off the mains (obviously, you don’t need to hire a professional to install battery lighting or solar lighting).

Felling a large tree

You may be able to cut down a small tree without having to hire a professional. However, when it comes to trees over 15ft, it’s safer to always hire tree services. This ensures that you don’t get hurt or cause unwanted damage to your property. Rotten and damaged trees should always be left to pros as these types of trees can be a lot more unpredictable when cutting them down.

Trimming tree branches

You should similarly be wary of trimming tree branches. This is particularly the case if you have to climb the tree or climb a ladder to reach branches – many people underestimate how a branch will fall, and this could result in injury or damage to property if you’re not careful. Trimming high branches also typically requires specialist safety equipment, which you may not own. A professional will have all the right equipment to carry out the job safely.

Removing a wasp nest

Got a wasp nest in your backyard that needs removing? This is another job where it’s usually more sensible to hire a professional than tackle it yourself. Not only is there a high risk of getting stung if you don’t know what you’re doing, but you may not get rid of all the wasps if you don’t do it thoroughly. There could also be a risk of falling if you’re trying to remove a nest from a high tree or roof. Look into pest control services that provide wasp nest removal as a service so that the nest can be removed safely and effectively.

Digging a well/septic tank hole

You usually don’t need to hire an expert when digging small holes in your garden. You can even dig a pond yourself if you feel up for the challenge. However, you may want to draw the line at much deeper holes such as water well or septic tank holes. Such holes need to be professionally drilled and supported so that they do not cave in. You also need to make sure that you don’t drill through any pipes or other objects that could be running beneath the ground. There’s also a risk of falling into the hole and injuring yourself. Hire professionals when drilling/digging these holes.

SATURDAYS ARE FOR STELLA ❤️

Oh, hello there 👋 in case you’re new to my feed, this is Stella. She is an almost 3 year old goldendoodle from Stella, NC. No, we didn’t name her Stella because of the city she was born in. That was a complete coincidence!

She goes by many names - Stella, Stelladoodle, Stu Diddy, Stu, and Moose. Don’t ask 😂 (and whether she responds to any of those names is completely up to her.)

She’s finally graduating the puppy stages (I hope), but it is known that if you’re over and
👟you leave your shoes unattended
👜bag open
🧦socks on the floor
🧻towels in reaching distance to her counter surfing
🏃‍♀️🏃🏃‍♂️you’ll be running circles around the house after her. Don’t say I didn’t warn you 😉

Today we celebrated the life of Heather McMechan, someone I am eternally grateful came into my life, and devastated has left this earth. The church was filled with people that loved her - not one person that crossed her path couldn’t NOT love her.

Forever in my heart ❤️
