Spring Fashion Trends

Spring is in the air! Actually it feels a bit like summer here in South Florida, but it’s all good.

We had a few brisk days when I was able to break out some of my favorite sweaters and a light jacket or two, but other than that it’s been sunny and warm!

Every year at about this time, I start to refresh my closet with new, lighter pieces. Here are some of my current favorites!

Spring Denim

If I had to pick one item of clothing that I love more than a simple white t-shirt, it would have to be my jeans.

The top trends this coming spring don’t necessarily include the skinny jean, which has been a staple for quite some time! You’ll be seeing more of straight legs, tailored denim (think trousers), distressed hems, and wide legs.

There’s something about a distressed pair of jeans, rolled just right and paired with a simple t-shirt that screams style and comfort.

I paired my Kut From the Kloth denim with a Madewell T and my favorite Tenth Street Hat. These jeans are my go-to because they go with just about anything! I also like these, these, and have my eye on these.

I usually pair them with my Birkenstocks, Adidas, or a wedge, depending on the style of the top.

Maxi Dresses

I’m all about the one and done theory when it comes to outfits. This theory holds true for maxi dresses and rompers/jumpsuits.

It’s one-piece. No matching tops and bottoms! All you have to add are some accessories and a cute pair of shoes!

I purchased the Elan dress above from Sunday State Style. It is ridiculously comfortable and HAS POCKETS! Anything with pockets scores high in my book! I paired it with a long necklace and my favorite sunnies.

The Perfect T-Shirt

I am always on the lookout for the perfect t-shirt. My usual brand is Madewell and their whisper cotton v-neck pocket tee (last one pictured below), but have also picked some other favorites for you to check out!

Accessories Make the Outfit!

I’m all about taking a blank canvas outfit like a t-shirt and denim and sprucing it up with a great hat, necklace, or scarf.

Hats

Hats have become my favorite accessory as of late. Aside from the fact that there are so many different styles to choose from, they are my best friend when I have a not-so-good hair day!

The newest addition to my hat collection is this one from Tenth Street Hats. Made by Scala, the Coba is a great any day hat. I’ve worn it when on our staycation to Hollywood Florida and got many compliments; as well as to the beach and the boys’ flag football games.

It’s lightweight, offers the perfect amount of coverage from the sun, and my favorite – it’s crushable. I didn’t mean to squish it, but accidentally sat on it at the game, and it popped right back into shape!

Spring Jewelry

Look for these trends when shopping for jewelry:

Heavy hoops – I love hoops, but am a bit on the fence about the size of some of the ones I’ve seen this season.
Enamel – the perfect way to add a pop of color to your outfit
Chains and links – with necklaces, bracelets, and hanging earrings!
Coin embellishments – YAY! I still have this one Stella and Dot coin embellished necklace that I got ages ago hanging in my closet. Proof that you shouldn’t just get rid of something to get rid of it – it may come back in style!
Celestial-inspired – Think the sun, moon, and stars!

Scarves

Even though it is getting warmer out, I have to spotlight scarves. They have been an outfit saver many times over. They add that pop of color needed, or that final touch to almost any outfit. Below are some I have my eye on!
