We’ve been back to school for a little over a month and are starting to get back into a more scheduled day. I love the summertime but honestly, my days are so out of whack during that time of year. I look forward to the regimented mornings – getting the kids up, dressed and washed; fed and then off to school. I am on the same schedule as them, replacing school with work. My nights are a bit more tiresome because I come home from work and now go through their backpacks, signing their agendas, reviewing their schoolwork for that day and homework for the next day; filling out permission slips for field trips, making sure there are no random half-eaten chocolate bars in the bottom of the bag…then wrestling them upstairs for a shower, getting them to read for at least 20 minutes (that is a feat within itself sometimes), and to bed before 8:30 p.m. That is when I crash.
What do you remember from when you went to school? Do you have any tips on how to stay on schedule and maybe even squeeze out a few minutes for yourself? I’d love to know!

The kids should do their homework and or reading when they get home from school. Eat dinner, shower and some tv etc. they go to bed. That is when I first started cleaning and getting things ready for the next day. Good luck. The only time off I got was when I went into the bathroom and that was sort but sweet nap or read.

They do for the most part, but then we get those days that they forgot…that throws a wrench into the works. I can’t even get respite in the bathroom…it’s either the boys or the dog that somehow end up in there with me – or all three!
