Continuing along with my interview series of motivated, strong women, I wanted to introduce you to my longtime, dear friend – Jamie. Jamie and I met in my college years through a mutual friend and the rest is history!
I kind-of introduced her to her husband. I have to tell the story. I had planned a happy hour at a local bar after work one day. Jamie was there and as usual, we took a bunch of pictures having a great time. The next day when I came into work, I was showing my coworker, Rob, the pictures and he asked who that pretty girl was…it was Jaaaammiiieeeeee of course! They started talking on the phone and now have two adorable children and two fur babies. Now it’s time for you to get to know and fall in love with her as well!
A LITTLE BIT ABOUT JAMIE
Coffee or Tea? – Coffee all the way. Except when I have tea occasionally. But I am thinking about coffee while I am drinking it.
Red or white wine? – White!
Favorite place to visit? – I have so many! One of my favorite places to visit is Key Largo. There is just such a relaxing air about the whole town and I can totally shut myself off while I am there. Sit in a hammock, drink some wine and watch the bioluminescent jelly fish in the bay. I wish I was there now after 8 snow days.
Flower of choice? – Peonies! They are sort of wild looking and beautiful.
What does your ideal day look like? – Hmmmm. An ideal day for recreation-wise would be an awesome day scuba diving, boating, some awesome food on the water and finish with some drinks by the water while listening to some live music. An ideal day business-wise would be any day that I get to change someone’s life in a positive way! I know that sounds cheesy but when you love what you do, it can easily make any day amazing!
{I need to interject here…Jamie is also an amazing, healthy cook and is the first person I met that makes homemade bread crumbs…OK, back to the interview.}
NOW A LITTLE BIT ABOUT JAMIE’S PASSIONS AND THOUGHTS
How were you first introduced to It Works!? – I was introduced to It Works! Global by my friend Jessica. She was posting about it over and over on FB and I blocked her, writing it off as a scam because there was NO way those silly wrap things could actually work and as an eating disorder survivor, I felt like these were a quick fix and that Jessica, who was a personal trainer, was being a hypocrite!! Not only that I didn’t have any real knowledge about multi-level marketing and what I did have been not accurate! Well, fast forward to 6+ months and lots of stalking later, and I finally tried one! I am sure you have already figured this out, but IT WORKED! I was BLOWN away by my results and had to become a part of this! I have since come to realize that we are SO much more than what you see on the surface. Our amazing body wraps can help people with problems that cannot be remedied by diet and exercise, like loose skin, stretch marks, toning and firming areas like under the chin and neck. Many of our customers were considering surgery and now have found an inexpensive, safe, non-invasive option and THAT makes my heart happy for them!! All of our other products are amazing too! There is literally something for everyone and we are not only helping people get a jump-start to a healthy lifestyle but we are helping them maintain it! I love, love, love, getting messages from my customers telling me they can finally wear their favorite jeans, or they feel sexy again or their acne scars are gone. It’s the best! I am so blessed to have such an awesome team who have become some of my best friends and I get to work from home doing a job I love! I am so glad I jumped out of my comfort zone and took a chance!
What inspires you most? Helping people. I didn’t really realize it until I started this company, maybe a little before, but helping people find what makes them happy is just so inspiring and emotional for me. I am someone who takes everything to heart, even if it has nothing to do with me, so sometimes other people’s crises are very stressful, to say the least! If I can help even one person chase their dreams in one way or the other, that’s amazing.
What does a typical day look like? Wake up, make coffee, make the kids’ lunches, get the kids dressed, check FB and email messages and help my team in any way I can, while making sure the kids are finishing the breakfasts daddy gave them, shower, take kids to school, follow-up with customers, train new distributors via Google hangouts or conference calls, make sure to acknowledge milestone events in friends’ lives, communicate with my leadership team, pick youngest up from school, lunch, run errands (while working in my business), meet oldest at the bus, do homework, make dinner, share dinner with family, bath time rituals (glow sticks are popular), we read to the kids, then I sing show tunes and Somewhere Over the Rainbow, then kids go to bed and hubs and I catch up, I listen to corporate calls, team calls and follow-up on any remaining customers! The bed. Zzzzzzzzzz.
What have you learned by working with It Works products and the company as a whole? Oh man. I have learned that there was a void in my life that I didn’t know was there, that has now been filled. I have learned LOADS about our product ingredients and why our products are amazing. I have learned that network marketing is not something to fear, but can be an amazing vehicle for success in so many ways! I realized that what makes me really happy is to help people realize and chase their dreams. I realized that the heart of our company is truly about changing the world, one step at a time and I wouldn’t have believed that if I didn’t see it in person, at conference in January. I really could go one for days about everything that I have learned and how I have grown from taking this leap close to a year ago. It’s been priceless, really.
What is your best bit of advice to give women when it comes to balancing work and family? Set work hours. Have a plan for your week or month when it comes to groceries, meals, and basic errands. Work your family into your job if you are lucky enough to be able to do that! My kids love giving people coupons and sharing this opportunity! Set specific time aside for just family, with no electronics and no outside interaction and stick with it. This is a hard one for me, but I read Hands Free Mama and it really opened my eyes. It doesn’t always happen, but I try to make sure that we do it every single day and my #1 time for family is dinnertime. No phones, no electronics, just dinner at the table as a family.
Where do you see yourself in 5 years? Oh wow. For as much of an over analyzer as I am, weirdly I haven’t looked at my own life that far ahead. Personally, happy and well-adjusted kids and a happy and healthy husband. Professionally I can see myself walking across our corporate stage, telling my story and hoping that it inspires others to take control of their lives and get healthy, mentally and physically. It’s been quite the journey, and it’s still a journey and I can’t wait to see where it takes me next!
So now you see why I adore Jamie. She truly means and does what she says and preaches. Connect with Jamie:
