Picture this…five bloggers and a soon-to-be author take a mini vacay to the Florida Keys for an Ocean Sotheby’s International Real Estate event.
That is exactly how Heather and I met. She was kind enough to share some of her story as well as a chapter from her newly debuted book, Go Love Yourself, on the first day of our time together.
A genuinely kind and amazingly spiritual woman, Heather has opened up to share her journey to self-love as well as create a beautiful affirmation candle collection to help remind us of what’s most important – ourself!
Meet Heather Reinhardt!
When you were little what did you want to be when you grew up?
A Broadway star. I grew up dancing and singing; it was the natural choice!
How did you decide to write your book, Go Love Yourself?
As I went through my own self-love journey, it became clearer to me that more people need self-love (which covers self-awareness, self-worth, self-respect, & self-care—overall, self-love is empowerment). Being a writer, I knew a book on self-love was the obvious choice. The more I marinated in the idea of how to create a business that teaches people self-love, I realized I needed to create “tools” for them to physically use. One of the tools I used heavily during my journey was Affirmation Candles. It dawned on me that Affirmation Candles were the perfect accompaniment with my book, Go Love Yourself. Who doesn’t love reading a book with a beautiful candle lit!?
What is the biggest struggle you’ve encountered as an entrepreneur and how did you solve it?
The to-do list never gets fully done as there’s always more to add to it. I’ve had to implement the mantra of “I’m taking my time” along with “one step at a time” to remind myself that Rome wasn’t built in a day, there’s no major rush, business growth takes time, and it’ll happen when it happens. I have both of these mantras written on my whiteboard in my office so that I see them often. I also have to remind myself that it’s okay to take a break when needed. I’m not one to not finish a project–I will always get it done, but it’s better to get it done when I’m fully focused rather than tired or distracted.
What do you think are the pros and cons of being a womanpreneur?
Pros: It’s never been a better time to be a womanpreneur. There’s so much more access to funding, grants, and loans than ever before. There are also so many wonderful women who are willing to go to bat for you/your product, sharing it on their socials and collaborating on all sorts of platforms (online and IRL).
Con: I haven’t come across any specific cons of being a womanpreneur. I’ve never let the fact that I’m a woman stop me from doing anything. My parents raised me to go after my dreams, so I’ve never even had it in my consciousness that I’m different because I’m a woman. I’m just an empowered human empowering other humans.
Do you have any mentors or coaches that you work with?
Yes! I have three people that I turn to for advice, both in business and personal. I talk about them in Go Love Yourself and how important it is to surround yourself with people who are supportive and on their own version of self-love journey.
What advice would you give to someone reading this that has the entrepreneurial “itch”?
Go for it. If you’re lucky enough to have an idea mixed in with passion and purpose, then it’s your calling. Don’t be afraid of it. Take the steps to start and take one step at time. You’ve got this.
What is the secret to achieving work-life balance for you?
Acknowledging that I can only accomplish oh-so-much on any given day. Sleep is very important to me. I don’t do my best work when I get tired, so rather than pushing through, I allow myself to rest. It might take me longer to produce my work, but at least it’s higher quality work with no I-was-tired-didn’t-see-that mistakes. I also schedule a staycation roughly every six weeks so that I have a break from the norm.
How do you find inspiration?
I live my life very artistically. Everything I do has beauty, meaning, and purpose. Even when I scroll on social media, I am taking note of how other people/brands are doing their thing, finding the inspiration—and courage—to implement creative ideas into my own brand. Music is also a big one for me. It’s never not playing while I work and I try to get to live shows frequently.
What is your favorite book?
Go Love Yourself 🙂 I recently read & loved WorkParty by Jaclyn Johnson, founder of Create & Cultivate. It’s super helpful for any woman launching a business, brand, and/or product.
What is your favorite quote?
“Love yourself first and everything else falls into line. You really have to love yourself to get anything done in this world.” – Lucille Ball
What do you do to decompress?
Yoga. Nightly baths. Watching stand up comedy (currently obsessed with Michael Kosta, Katie Hannigan, and Kaela Crawford).
