One wonderful thing about living in Florida is that every season is BBQ season. I love to entertain, especially outdoors, and am always looking for new, healthy options when it comes to appetizers, main dishes, and desserts. Here is a compilation of 5 BBQ party food ideas that I’ve been loving.
APPETIZERS
It’s hot out basically 365 days of the year, so if you are planning an outdoor event, I recommend serving refreshing appetizers (and beverages, but I’ll get to that).
One of my favorite refreshing apps is fruit kebobs. Cut up your favorite fruit – strawberries, cantaloupe, watermelon – you name it! Spear them through wooden or metal skewers and you have a colorful and healthy appetizer to start off the day!
My husband also makes an amazing chilled broccoli salad that we’ve been asked multiple times for the recipe!
MAIN DISH
When I think of BBQs, hamburgers are the first thing that comes to mind. As with my daily dietary habits, I am always looking for organic and healthy options which are sometimes hard to come by. I was introduced to the TRIBALÍ brand and super excited to try out their patties.
I was able to find them in the freezer section at my local Super Target, which just so happens to be one of my go-to food shopping locales.
Each package has 4 patties – you cook them straight from frozen, making prep super easy. I appreciate that TRIBALÍ Foods use single-sourced ingredients. The patties feature 100% organic grass fed and finished, pasture-raised beef and 100% organic free-range, air-chilled chicken. All meat is humanely raised on family farms without any added antibiotics or added hormones and is blended with locally sourced herbs and vegetables like shiitake mushrooms, poblanos, and fire-roasted garlic.
The brand was created by a Holistic Nutritionist, mom and former vegetarian, Angela Bicos Mavridis, who merged her passion for wholesome, nutrient-dense foods with globally-inspired flavors for a delicious, healthy meal option. My kind of lady!!
All TRIBALÍ Foods products are paleo certified, Whole30 approved, non-GMO and free of gluten, dairy, soy, preservatives, additives or fillers. Clean eating for you and your party guests!
It was hard to choose between the Mediterranean Style Beef and Chipotle Chicken patties, so I usually grab both. Once the grill is nice and hot, I pop them on and have the perfect main dish in minutes.
I usually serve them on a bun (I prefer bunless myself), along with fries or tater tots, and a tossed salad. Simple, healthy, and a crowd pleaser!
DESSERT TIME!
Two of my favorite desserts for BBQ parties are homemade popsicles and chocolate covered fruit. You need some form of chocolate when it comes to dessert time, right?
I make my homemade popsicles with fresh or frozen fruit and juices – either combining the ingredients into a simple ice cube tray OR popsicle mold.
My absolute favorite chocolate covered fruit are strawberries, with raspberries at a close second. All you’ll need is a bag of melting chocolate (milk, dark, or white – or all three!) and your fruit of choice.
- Melt the chocolate (my preference is on the stovetop).
- Cover a cookie sheet with parchment paper.
- Either drizzle the melted chocolate over the fruit or dip the fruit into the chocolate.
- Place fruit on cookie sheet.
- Refrigerate for about 30 minutes or until the chocolate has hardened.
BBQ PARTY FOOD IDEAS!
When I entertain, I want to make sure that I am serving food that is healthy, as well as delicious. You can find the TRIBALÍ brand at 185 Target stores coast to coast – there’s even a handy-dandy store locator on their site to find the store closest to you! Check them out on social media – Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter.

Convenience is key when you have a lot going on! What’s the best is that they are healthy as opposed to some other frozen alternatives!
