February 10 – 16 is Random Acts of Kindness Week. This is the perfect time to dole out some good deeds. Here are some ideas to get the ball rolling:
- Write your long distance (or around the corner) friend a “Thank You for Being You” note.
- When paying for your next Starbucks, pay for the person behind you in line. It’s amazing how long this random act of kindness continues!
- Take in your neighbor’s garbage pails or newspaper.
- Donate your loose change next time you are at the register.
- Offer the mail person, FedEx delivery person, or landscaper a cold drink or hot cup of coffee.
- Pick up trash at a local beach or park.
- Send a care package to the troops overseas.
- Use reusable bags at the grocery store.
You could always perform any of the above random acts of kindness at any time of the year! Think of this week as a head start!
What other random acts of kindness are you planning to do this week? Please share!

Dana says
It takes a few minutes to do something that would make someone, a friend or a stranger, smile!
Mamma says
It does work pass it on

I LOVE this idea! I actually am going to start a Pay-It-Forward series on my blog. I just love the idea of how small, random acts of kindness can go so far!!
Dana says
I am definitely going to look out for your Pay-It-Forward series!! Even just smiling at someone you are passing by in the hallway at work, or in the store could make their day!
Tara Newman says
See, I figured this out. Consider this my random act of kindness to you. But seriously, these are good ideas.
Dana says
Thank you Tara! LOLOL… xo

How did I not know this was RAKW? Till I heard from several SITS sites. Well, I’m making some cute little give-away baskets for VD for all my pint-sized neighbor kids. It’s fun and I love seeing their faces and all the big hugs I get! Nice site here.
Dana says
I’d love to hear about the baskets you make for the kids in your neighborhood!!

I love this and think it is something we should do every day! Thank you so much for sharing!
Dana says
I agree Cher!!

I think this is such a wonderful thing! I think another thing everyone can do on a daily basis is ask how people around us in the service industry how they are, and genuinely care about their answer. Most people don’t pay any attention to these people. But without them, there’s a lot that we wouldn’t have help with.
Dana says
Corrie, I couldn’t agree with you more. I try to make sure I ask how everyone is that is around me, look them in the eye, and genuinely want to know!!
Cole says
Lovely ideas! I should do more random acts of kindness in my daily life. Sometimes I just get so caught up in my own life I forget to notice those around me
Dana says
Thanks Cole! I am the same way – I get caught up way too easily with work and the kids and everyday happenings.

I was not aware that there was a Random Act of Kindness week. I sometimes feel so out of the loop. But there are still a couple of days left so I am sure I can think of a few things to do.
Though I guess I already got a head start this past Sunday while at Disneyland. We gave our fast-passes for Star Tours to another group since we weren’t going to end up using them. 🙂
Stopping by from #SITSBlogging.

Christina – see you didn’t even know there was a week with that name and you still did something super sweet!
Consie @ Atop Serenity Hill says
What a lovely idea! Paying for the next person in line is always a sweet thought! #SITSblogging
Dana says
It happened to me once in a Starbucks drive through – it was so thoughtful so I paid it “back” to the car behind me!
