I just went to LEGOLAND Florida with my family to check out their newest addition – Star Wars Miniland!. Before I go to an amusement park, I like to make sure I have everything I need packed and ready to go. Here’s my list of must haves to pack for an amusement park visit!
Packing List
Ponchos
These were a lifesaver for me this time around! Halfway through our day, the skies opened, but we didn’t let that ruin our day. I usually opt for the one-use “emergency ponchos” but you can also invest in a more resilient poncho that you can use over and over.
Water Bottle
Each park’s rules differ when it comes to allowing outside food and beverage. You can always check their website, but I personally like to bring along a water bottle that I can continuously refill. You also save a lot of money by not buying those overpriced bottles of water that the park sells!
(I hang my water bottle from my bag with a carabiner clip.)
Band-aids
It’s inevitable that someone is going to get a cut, or shoes are going to dig into someone’s foot in the wrong way. A lot of parks have First Aid stations, but if all you need is a bandage, it’s silly to take the time you could be having a blast on the rides waiting for a band-aid.
I pack a few band-aids for those just-in-case times. It always happens that I need them when I don’t have them, so better to be safe than sorry.
Extra Socks
If the park you’re going to visit has water rides OR it rains, an extra pair of socks will most definitely come in handy. A fresh pair of socks can make your day at the park last twice as long – trust me!
Plastic Bags
Grab a few plastic bags (from the grocery store). They are perfect for storing wet clothes after water rides. I also use them for compartmentalizing items in my bag, making it easier to find snacks, etc.!
Sunscreen
Hopefully, you are going to the park on a sunny day! Even if it is overcast it is still super important to bring sunscreen with you and reapply frequently. I make sure to also pack chapstick with SPF.
What to pack everything in!
I highly recommend packing all of your necessities in a backpack. You are going to be walking around all day. Backpacks are easier on your back as they evenly distribute the weight.

Everyone looked like they were having a super time.

Yes to the Band-Aids! I always seem to have blisters form from my shoes in the summer, and having bandages with me lets me go about my fun.

Great timing for this post for me! We are headed to Legoland California this year. All the items, with the exception of socks, are essentials we take every time we go on an outing—particularly water bottles. Water is so expensive to buy just about anywhere, so we buy them in bulk at Costco and keep them around for any/all our needs for outings. Spare socks is an EXCELLENT idea I wouldn’t have thought of. I’ll be sure to take some for the whole family now. Thank you!

I love the practical side of this – bandaids, water bottles and a poncho! I literally am always the one needing the bandaids and never carry them!

I was just out somewhere and I ripped clothing when I was out. Just reminded me when I go to events for all day, I should always have another change of clothes just in case. You never know what’s going to happen.

What a helpful post! I would never think to bring spare socks, but it is such a wonderful idea. We wanna keep the shoes fresh and the feet as well. Band-aids are a must as well, safety first! Thanks for sharing. 🙂

This is such a helpful list!! Extra socks was a really good pointer, and I also carry a backpack because it’s so much easier!
Dana says
Denisha, I don’t know how I did it all those times before without a backpack! (Actually, I suffered after with a sore back!)

Ponchos and band aids are easily forgotten but so much needed. Indeed a great list!
Dana says
Thank you Aashima! It’s the little things that we forget and then seem to need, right?
