They have a day for everything! Today is National Scrabble Day…a tribute to the long-time favorite word game!
Some Scrabble Facts
Did you know:
- Scrabble was invented by an architect (in 1938)
- It was once a TV Game Show! (back in the 80’s)
- There are 29 different language versions on the market
Ever since I was a little girl, I remember my mom and grandma playing Scrabble at the kitchen table (almost every night, if not every night!). I too like games that include words, numbers, anything with logic.
My boys have Scrabble Junior and they love it too – like Mama like Son(s).
Travel Memories
When my husband and I vacationed in St. Lucia a few years back, there was one day of our trip that was quite rainy. We were staying at an all-inclusive resort, so we were hoping there would be something to do besides enjoy the beach and pool. We passed the “game table” and saw Scrabble – eh what the heck! We went back to the room and had a GREAT time playing this famous word game. (My husband won – he surprised himself!)
Once we returned to the States we bought ourselves a game board – what a great way to spend time together and sharpen your skills at the same time! Now, when my parents watch the boys or my aunt comes down, there is a game to be played!
