If you were to ask Stefany Allongo when she was a little girl what she was going to be when she grew up, she’d say an astronaut. That’s a definite 180 from what she has accomplished today as a seasoned wedding planner and now phenomenal online resource for budding Palm Beach brides.
I so wish I had a resource like Married in Palm Beach when I started wedding planning 18 years ago – eek…that’s a long time ago! I digress – it’s time to get to know this week’s womanpreneur, Stefany Allongo!
Meet Stefany Allongo!
When you were little what did you want to be when you grew up?
An astronaut – I even went to space camp!
How did you come up with the idea for your business?
I spent 10 years as a wedding planner in the Palm Beaches. Over the years I realized that the available online resources for couples looking for wedding vendors lumped the Palm Beaches into the greater South Florida market to the detriment of those couples. I yearned for an online resource dedicated to the Palm Beaches. With that Married in Palm Beach was born!
What is the biggest struggle you’ve encountered as an entrepreneur and how did you solve it?
As a native of Wellington, I grew up loving our slice of paradise and have always strived to support local businesses. When I decided to create Married in Palm Beach, I had the branding and content mapped out but had no idea how to do the technical side. It was definitely a weakness. So I partnered with an established wedding website to leverage their knowledge and experience. It was invaluable!
What do you think are the pros and cons of being a womanpreneur?
Being a womanpreneur is definitely incredible! I love the ability to create a more flexible schedule built around my family’s needs.
Do you have any mentors or coaches that you work with?
I work with Married in Milwaukee. They are a wealth of knowledge.
What advice would you give to someone reading this that has the entrepreneurial “itch”?
Don’t wait! Start to build your business in your spare time and then you can transition over to full-time once you are ready.
What is the secret to achieving work-life balance for you?
Blocking off specific times for work. Each week the block of time changes based on our family’s schedule, but I know that there is a specific time where I can get the work done. This allows me to enjoy life when away from work.
How do you find inspiration?
In experiencing everyday life. Whether it’s going to the theatre, playing in the park with my kids, or cooking a meal at home, I try to enjoy it all. I’ve found that I get my best ideas while having fun.
What is your favorite book?
The Whole Harry Potter Series. Go Hufflepuffs!
What is your favorite quote?
“Being happy never goes out of style” by Lilly Pulitzer
What do you do to decompress?
I love watching cheesy Hallmark movies; especially, the ones at Christmas time.
Tea or coffee?
Neither! I’m a Coke Zero girl.
Favorite flower?
Sunflowers. <<<My personal favorite as well!>>>
