Wednesday has come and gone, but I will not let this weekend without introducing the Womanpreneur of the week!
A wearer of many hats: mom of two, published writer, event producer, and freelance model-based in South Florida.
MEET MANDY CARTER!
When you were little, what did you want to be when you grew up?
Samantha Brown because she traveled and shared the details with everyone!
How did you come up with the idea for your business?
After 15 years in the corporate world, I decided that I wanted to take all my passions and make a living out of them in a way that I had complete control over.
What is the biggest struggle you’ve encountered as an entrepreneur, and how did you solve it?
There is no “end” time to the workday if you don’t limit yourself. It is still something I struggle with when I am really focused, but creating time slots to do work and time slots for me/family/fun, etc. helps me to limit my workday hours.
What do you think are the pros and cons of being a womanpreneur?
Pro- you have complete control of your ideas, success, time, and, ultimately, your income. Con- your success and revenue are all up to you alone!
What advice would you give to someone reading this that has the entrepreneurial “itch”?
Be all in! You can’t be iffy about it because you will never know how successful you can be if you are only halfway committed to making it work.
What is the secret to achieving a work-life balance for you?
I remind myself that work-life balance was one of the main reasons I left the corporate world to be an entrepreneur, so not losing sight of that helps me achieve it when I start feeling overworked or stressed to accomplish things.
How do you find inspiration?
From the stories of other women entrepreneurs.
What is your favorite book?
Do Big Small Things
What is your favorite quote?
Success is the sum of small efforts, repeated day in and day out.
What do you do to decompress?
Workout!
Many wear a lot of hats. Of all her “jobs,” being a present mommy to her two kids is the most important and is a top priority. Love that!
