Are you one of those people that make lists? Like, make lists of lists? I used to always comment to my sister on her list making…she would constantly make lists. Always extremely organized and forward thinking – J introduced me to my first Filofax.
I am now a certifiable list maker. Maybe it is genetic? Maybe it is pay back for me kidding with my sister about her compulsive to-do’s.
I started out with a Filofax, but then came the age of technology. It took me a LONG time to trust my smart phone…what if it lost my list? My address book? My calendar! I was afraid that something would happen and all of my “life” would be erased. I slowly came to trust the phone, yet I still had that yearning to WRITE down lists. Like old school…in a cool journal (or twenty), with a cool colored pen (or ten). I admit that, at times, I do add some easy items to my list, so once completed I feel even that much more accomplished. Am I really telling you all of this?
I do use an app, Cozi, that is godsend when it comes to coordinating events and shopping lists with my husband because he can access the lists as well, wherever. I still do get those occasional, “Do we need anything from Publix/Target/Home Depot/Costco?” calls, but they are quickly quelled by, “Did you check Cozi?” Or what about the questions, “You have dinner with Amalia/Lauren/etc. tonight? I didn’t know.” Which is quickly followed by me with, “I put it in Cozi.”
Lately though, I have been transitioning back to the pen and notebook. There’s something about writing out what needs to be done, followed by the great feeling when I can cross out what has been completed. I still stick to the technology for the calendar and address book, but its not cutting it for me when it come to the task list.

I swear to you I have a similar post half written!!! I have been comparing and contrasting apps and found some I like. I have recently gotten lazy with my list making but realized what a huge component it is in maintaining my sanity. Have you ever checked out Michael Hyatt? He has a good website and podcast. You would like him. Have another post on podcasts coming…when I can get to it…on my list!
