I was so excited when I heard the great news – I was chosen as one of the South Florida Parenting Magazine MOM Approved panelists! I applied, fingers crossed, that I would be chosen and here I am – so excited!!
We met for the first time this week and learned all about the ambassadorship. I, along with 11 other fabulous ladies are going to be your eyes and ears as to what’s going on in the tri-county area, parenting, amongst other important kid-related topics. Let me introduce you to my fellow panelists. Please visit their blogs if you get a chance!
Aileen Van Pelt – Newsy Parents
Christina Nicholson – Mascara Maven
Cristina Ramirez – Triathlon Mami
Colleen Shibley – Shibley Smiles
Erica Chao – Mama’s Mission
Heather Lopez – Bloggin’ Mamas
Heather McMechan – Local Mom Scoop
Janet Eltaktouk – Outersparkle
Jessica Teixeira – The Beauty Delicacy
Joanie Cox Henry – Eye Need Glamour
Melissa Roy – Beyond Mommying
What’s so nice is that we all have one thing in common (which to me is my most favorite thing EVER) – we’re all MOMS, and we want what’s best for our children!
One event that was spoken about at the meeting was South Florida Parenting’s Anti-Bullying Campaign. The goal here is to take a stand against bullying – and it’s not only occurring in school, but also during playdates, on the field, and even at home. I have zero tolerance for bullying and tell my boys over and over that if someone is bullying them, they need to recognize this is BAD and to tell an adult immediately.
You can do something to spread the word! South Florida Parenting has created a contest open to schoolchildren in Miami-Dade, Broward, and Palm Beach County schools. Create an image for this “Don’t Be a Bully” contest. The first 100 to submit their artwork will receive a FREE annual Kids Fun Pass. The deadline is June 5th so start coloring! Send the 8.5″ x 11″ entry via email (scanned version) to SouthFloridaParenting@gmail.com or via USPS to:
South Florida Parenting
6501 Nob Hill Road
Tamarac, FL 33321
Winners will be chosen by the magazine’s staff, with the winning artwork showcased in the August 2015 edition of the magazine! They may even be used for other promotional materials – how cool?! For more details, visit www.SouthFloridaParenting.com. Good luck!
Lots of great events are in the works, so I hope you tune in to hear about them!!
