Taking your kids on a day out to the park or the beach is one of the best parts of parenthood. As a mom, spending time with your kids is always fun, albeit stressful, and it is where your best memories are made as a family.
But when you take your child out for the day you need to prepare your bag for anything. Kids are notoriously messy, unpredictable, and stroppy – so making sure you have all the essentials in your bag before you leave is crucial.
Here are some of the essential items you should bring with you when you take your child out this year.
A Travel Cot or Pack & Play
If you have a toddler or a young child, it is crucial for you to have a travel cot with you wherever you go. Kids get tired of walking very easily, and unless you want to carry them around all day you’ll need this to get them moving when they get tired. You can also bring a spare Travel Cot Fitted Sheet in case your child has an accident spilling their drink or they vomit while you are out and about. Always be prepared!
Their Favorite Toy
What could be better to take with your child when you go out than their favorite toy? Kids generally love to carry around a toy with them as it brings them comfort as well as entertainment. You are much less likely to have a fussy child if they have a toy or two with them, so make sure you stock up on these before you head out.
Healthy Snacks
It is so important to keep your kids from getting hungry while you are out and one of the best ways to do this is by providing them with healthy snacks to enjoy. From a simple wrap to some slices of carrot – there are lots of easy-to-handle snack ideas you can bring along. Here is an idea for you to consider:
Mini Chicken Wraps
Ingredients:
- 1 chicken breast
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tsp pepper
- 1 tbsp hummus or tzatziki
- 2 slices beef tomato
- Handful spinach
- Handful grated carrot
- 1 wholemeal wrap
- Start off by wither cooking your chicken breast in the oven seasoned with salt and pepper, or pan fry.
- To assemble the wrap, add your houmous or tzatziki, spinach, carrot, and tomato slices.
- Slice up your chicken and add to the wrap -if there is any leftover you can either make another wrap or save it for the next day.
- Wrap up like a burrito, and then for easy eating out and about cut into 2-3 inch thick slices and place in a Tupperware.
Extra Clothes
If you are going out to the beach or the park, make sure that you bring extra clothing for your child. Children are very messy and they will often get muddy and wet, so having some clean and dry clothes on hand will be a lifesaver when you are out and about!
