Do you feel like your home is always a mess? If you are a busy mom and you feel this way you are not alone.
Keeping a clean house especially when you have children and pets can be a challenge. It is difficult but that doesn’t mean that it can’t be done. To keep your home clean you will need to be strategic about it.
One way in which you can do this is by creating a cleaning strategy for your home. Here are some tips to keep a clean house that will definitely help you.
A Clean House Begins One Room at a Time
When your whole house is dirty you may not know where to begin. It adds to your frustration and helps prevent you from getting things done quickly. I know I get flustered, which adds to the initial procrastination to get it done!
Start decluttering one room. Put everything away and discard what is no longer needed in that room. If the room does not have a garbage pail, then place one in it.
Focusing on one space at a time will bring more progress than doing a little bit of everything all over the house. I like to do one room a day, setting up a schedule so it is super clear what needs to be done!
Get a Labeler
This is one of my favorite tips to keep a clean house! One of the easiest ways for your whole house to get messy quickly is for things to be out of place. Sometimes things are out of place simply because they don’t have a “home”.
Buying a labeler or creating labels yourself can eliminate this problem. Label different areas in the home. If you don’t think it is appropriate to label certain areas make sure that family members know that certain items must be in specific places.
Finding a home for everything, and making a habit of putting items where they belong will be a huge help!
Never Miss an Opportunity to Clean
The whole family should begin forming a habit of picking up something that is out of place when they enter a room. This simple act can prevent cluttering from happening in certain areas of the home. It may take some time, especially with the kids, but in the long run, it will turn into second nature to them!
Clean things up immediately, don’t wait. It’s easy to fall into the trap of saying you will clean it up later. Often later never comes, and more mess piles up. I feel this is one of the most useful of these tips to keep a clean house.
It Starts from the Outside
If you’re not careful the mess can begin from outside and find its way inside your home.
A messy front yard will bring messy footprints into your home especially if you have children. If your front porch has become stained, you can hire power washing professionals to clean it for you.
Once you have done this make it a habit of cleaning your porch regularly so that you can keep it looking pristine. Make stoned or concreted pathways in the grass of your front yard so that dirt is kept off shoes. This prevents porch stains.
Keep it Clean
Keeping your home clean can be difficult when you have a family and maybe even pets. However, it can be done.
Do not overwhelm yourself or you will become discouraged. This is why it is best to start in one room, finish it and then move onto the next.
Make a habit of putting things back in their correct places and cleaning up messes as soon as they occur. Make every effort to keep your front porch clean as well since a mess from the outside can get inside. Once you have mastered these things you will find that your home will not get as untidy as it used to.
