Pura Vida (The Pure Life)
Costa Ricans or Ticos are proud of their beautiful country and their way of life. They are friendly and welcoming to visitors. Pura Vida, which translates to the pure life, is their greeting and it encompasses everything about their culture. When in Costa Rica, you’re encouraged to relax, have fun, and enjoy your time there. And with the highest quality of life, this isn’t difficult to do.
Volunteer
A great way to see and explore this stunning country is to volunteer in Costa Rica. This is an invaluable opportunity to discover a new country and make new friends while giving something back. Programs are carefully chosen and operated to help you avoid common travel pitfalls.
It Is A Peace-Loving Nation
Since 1949, Costa Rica has forbidden a standing army. It is a peace-loving nation and is home to the United Nations University for Peace.
Beaches
It’s no exaggeration to state that Costa Rica is home to some of the best beaches in the world. Bordering on the Pacific and Caribbean oceans, it has over 300 beaches, and they are all different. Some are lined with palm trees and have soft white sand; others are rugged and deserted. Sand varies in color, from white to brown and black. You can swim, surf and discover an abundance of wildlife.
If you like the beach all to yourself, it’s possible to find some hidden gems such as Playa Arcos, Playa Barrigona, and Cahuita.
Wildlife
For such a small country, Costa Rica is home to 5,000,000 different species, making is one of the most biodiverse countries in the world. This is mainly due to its geographical location and its tropical climate. 3,000,000 of these species are endemic to Costa Rica.
The Corcovado National Park is a protected rainforest area. Expect to see monkeys, crocodiles, and bull sharks. Or, if you prefer something a little more tame observe the turtles at Tortuguero National Park. This is one of the world’s foremost turtle nesting beaches and is also home to amphibians and birds that exist nowhere else in Costa Rica.
Volcanos
Costa Rica boasts six active volcanoes and sixty-one dormant ones. Many of these are caldera volcanoes, which means their craters are filled with water and rising steam. Arenal is by far the most popular volcano for visitors and towers over surrounding coffee plantations.
Beaches, volcanoes, hiking trails, biodiversity, rainforests, and a warm and friendly welcome. This is what you can expect from a visit to Costa Rica. What are you waiting for? More so, what am I waiting for?!
