I am always on the lookout for a delicious lunch hot spot. My office is conveniently located near some great restaurants. Any day of the week, you can choose from Italian, Chinese, Japanese, Thai, Continental, Mexican…and now an awesome Cuban restaurant – Guarapo’s.
I had noticed it when it first opened but was hesitant to check it out simply because it was new. I am also not a huge fan of Cuban cuisine and with my favorite spot for crystal shrimp dumplings in the same shopping center, my car always seems to veer to the right and not the left.
One of my old co-workers (but still great, great friend), met me and another coworker for lunch one day – they chose Cuban. I am glad they did. The interior of Guarapo’s is simple but themed nicely. We were greeted and shown to our booth. Our first treat was a complimentary glass of sugar cane juice. It was interesting. I felt like it needed some rum and a muddled mint 🙂
I chose to order the Bistec de Pollo lunch special, which came with a choice of three sides. I went for the chicken soup, yellow rice, and tostones. The soup was amazing – now I know where to go for lunch when I have a cold and need some chicken soup TLC. The chicken was perfect – not dry, and when dipped in their garlic sauce – YUM. Yellow rice is yellow rice – it was good too.
ALL of that for only $6.95!!! I’ve been back two times already. The staff there is so friendly, they truly want you to have a nice experience. Of course, I tracked down their Facebook page and became a fan. You can too by clicking HERE. Show them some love!
It’s truly worth the visit. They even have outdoor seating for when the weather gets cooler (if it ever does…).
Note: I was not asked to write this review, totally not paid for it…I am just writing it because I love to share new things with you!

Sounds interesting. We love the occasional Cuban dish and my hubby goes gaga over Cuban coffee. Have to check it out. Thanks for sharing.

Susi, the food is delicious and they are so nice there…definitely try and check it out. I haven’t tried the Cuban coffee yet, but I am sure it is just as good as everything else!!

Sounds like a great deal. I’d much prefer that type of food over mediocre chain restaurants.
