My husband is a foodie. This poses a problem when I am trying to pick out the perfect place for his birthday dinner (mind you, his birthday was on the 25th but with my dad’s 70th birthday and family in town I had to juggle a lot).
There was one restaurant that we’d made reservations at on two separate occasions and had to cancel…one time I was sick and one time we were minus a babysitter last minute.
PISTACHE!
After successfully making reservations and inquiring about their corking fee (which I highly recommend – have you noticed the ridic price of bottles of wine on the menus today?), we chose a great French wine from our collection to bring with us, and off we went!
On the way to dinner, my husband mentioned that he wanted to see if the street art in the neighborhood was different from the last time we visited.
I am a big street art fan (thank you Anouk!) so when I saw the artist actually painting on one of the building’s exterior walls, I was so excited!! Traffic was against us so we had to move on, but did get a pic on the way back.
This picture is NOT good…but you can see the artist’s ladder to the left. I think it was some Star Wars-esque mural. I’m going to try and go back next weekend to see the final product.
OK…back to the birthday dinner. We decided to sit on the patio – it was beautiful out! The first course was, of course, french onion soup!
Following what my husband noted as “one of the best french onion soups he has EVER had”, we moved on to the cheese and meat plate. I was a little hesitant to try the duck prosciutto, but since it was his birthday I decided to be daring. It was delicious…along with the cheese and the garlic sausage.
Next was the main course. The waitress, when asked what her favorites were, described the chicken with the truffle mac and cheese and I had to make this night a “gluten” cheat night. Macaroni and cheese with truffle oil and gouda…c’mon. R chose the filet, another great choice but I liked mine better (haha).
Mamma says
That makes me hungry. I hope to go there some time
