I enjoy reading Paulo Coelho’s works, especially some of his quotes. I was reading this book called ‘Eleven Minutes’ and this one touched my heart dearly – “I am two women: one who wants to have all the joy, passion and adventure that life can give me. The other wants to be a slave to routine; to family life, to the things that can be planned and achieved. I am a housewife and a single woman, both of us living in the same body, and battling with each other. The meeting of these two women is a game with serious risks. A divine dance! When we meet, we are two divine energies, two universes colliding. If the meeting is not carried out with due reverence, one universe destroys the other.” How exact is that! Every woman, I believe, has a war within her between what she has been doing and what she could have done. The real life lies in the balancing of these two universes.
Every day is a struggle when one has to get up and go about getting the routine done. Prepare food, drop and pick kids up from school, go grocery shopping, get the laundry done. If you are a working woman you need to balance out the household chores and work. If you are a single mother, you have to single handedly manage kids, home, job and everything else that is required for a normal routine life. It is important to understand that one can’t be perfect with everything, so it is okay to be imperfect and to indulge once in a while in self pampering exercises. As I said earlier, it’s all a balancing act.
One should always have a time line planned to achieve the balance. No matter how cliché it sounds, it is the best way to do both what you have to and what you like to. Use easier ways to do things, surf internet for enhancing your hobby ideas, learn new gadgets, and definitely get a hang of coupons and discount offers for self pampering sessions (Check this link now if you want to look for a little “self” guidance). Focus on what you can do rather than what you cannot. Read a lot. When you read you open a totally new dimension for yourself. Revitalize yourself and let yourself know that even if it seems tough and unattainable, a little planning, pampering and loads of action can make you a happier, healthier person!
