Do you plan your menus out for the coming week? I have seen a bunch of articles on this topic and also know a friend or two who are stellar at it (Jamie, take a bow!). Growing up, we kind of had a basic menu plan:
Monday – Wednesday: my mom would cook
Thursday: Leftovers
Friday: Pizza
Saturday: Chinese Food
Sunday: Gravy and pasta
We would deviate at times, but that is what I remember most. Nowadays, people have made an art of this concept. One great website that I stumbled upon while researching this topic, is Food on the Table. This free site assists you in planning your meals for the week.
First, you select the supermarkets you frequent. In my case, they are two Publix stores, and one Super Target.
Next, you choose your food preferences by answering some simple questions and then decide on which of the stores you chose earlier you want to shop at.
Next, you select your recipes based on the sales at that particular store. This is easy! (BTW, at this point I am also downloading the free app for my phone – they have one for Android and iPhone).
From there, your grocery shopping list is created!
You can also add any other items to the list that you need to pick up while you are at the store.
Next, you can choose to just print the shopping list, the recipes, both, email the grocery list out or send it to your iPhone.
This is such a great way to organize your meals for the week, save some $$ and stress!
