So, let’s talk about books…what is your favorite genre? Do you like “pink lipstick books” as I call them – like the Shopaholic series; or are you more of a non-fiction fan, reading the latest biography printed? Maybe you’d rather sci-fi. Whatever the type, I highly recommend anyone and everyone to pick up a book…it’s the best.
My love of reading started when I was a little girl. I used to spend the summers in Florida at my grandparents, and we would frequent the public library numerous times throughout the week. I loved the feeling of searching for and finding a new book. I would be so super excited to get home, lay on the couch in the garage-turned-game-room and enter my next adventure.
I try to instill this in my boys. They see me reading all the time, whether it is a book, magazine, newspaper (yes, I still love the printed variety) or online. Reading is a portal to education, imagination, and enlightenment in any form.
What is the last book you read? AND what is the next book you are going to pick up?
I challenge you to make the time, even if it is 15-20 minutes at the very beginning or end of the day, to read. I have challenged myself to read 60 books in 2015, although there are dozens more on my wish list!
Would you like to start an online book club? Let’s talk about this…comment below!

My favorite books are usually YA Sci-Fi/Fantasy books… they are such easy reads and usually very entertaining. Aside from those, I really enjoy any modern mysteries or thrillers (James Patterson, Stuart Woods, John Grisham, etc).
Can’t wait to read the month away!!

I love meeting other book lovers!!! I like James Patterson and John Grisham as well. I am in the middle of one of my “pink lipstick” as I call them…books. Those are easy and fast reads for me. Then I’ll switch off to a more intense book.

I’ve been swamped with grad school readings lately but all of that will be over in 5 weeks! After that, I would like to read some fiction books, maybe some blogging books, and anything upbeat 🙂 I could use a happy story!

Good luck with your grad school studies, Tori! If you get a chance, check out my 2015 reading list as I have a bunch of good books listed. I bookmarked this link to 5 blogging books to read…I haven’t read them just yet BUT one day I will get to them 🙂

Hey Dana,
I’ve always loved reading. I’d say I’m more the non-fiction and inspiration/motivation type.
The most recent book I read was “Why Now is the Time to CRUSH IT” by Gary Vaynerchuk. A short read, but very much worth it.
My next read is “Unlimited Power” by Anthony Robbins. (Actually, a re-read. But it’s a powerful book I enjoy 🙂 )
Thanks for the post. Sometimes, we get so focused in our day-to-day lives that we forget to do the things we enjoy.

I’m going to add “Unlimited Power” to my reading list. I
the fact that you read it and ate reading it again is a recommendation in my eyes! I hear you about forgetting what we truly enjoy.

Reading is my favorite thing ever! I’m currently reading Looking for Alaska by John Green and rereading Lord of the Flies. I’m definitely a pink lipstick book lover as you described, but l mostly read YA. I love cheesy love stories like Sarah Dessen novels, but I also love dystopian novels. They’re just so creative! Also a fan of celeb memoirs, particularly those by comedians. And of course HP will always be the love my life. I just love reading.

I love the idea of National Reading month. I’m in! Have just read one of M.C. Beaton’s Agatha Raisin mysteries, not sure what to read next.
