Most of you may have heard of the Dirty Dozen – the 12 fruits and veggies that are recommended you purchase organic in lieu of conventional.
Just in case you are new to this term, here is the list:
- celery
- peaches
- strawberries
- apples
- domestic blueberries
- nectarines
- sweet bell peppers
- spinach, kale, and collard greens
- cherries
- potatoes
- imported grapes
- lettuce
Buying organic can become costly, but for the few listed above, I try my hardest to purchase the organic version.
Now, I have a new list for you to know – The Clean 15! These are fifteen fruits and veggies that have been tested to contain little or no pesticides. They are considered safe to be eaten in non-organic forms (conventional).
- onions
- avocados
- sweet corn
- pineapples
- mango
- sweet peas
- asparagus
- kiwi fruit
- cabbage
- eggplant
- cantaloupe
- watermelon
- grapefruit
- sweet potatoes
- sweet onions

Avocado is my new favorite – I eat it with just about anything!
Please note that the lists of dirty and clean produce were compiled after the USDA washed the produce using high-power pressure water systems.
