As you probably already know, I am a huge street art fan. It amazes me how creative these artists are. The concepts are brilliant to begin with, but to then create it in such a manner as painted on a huge building’s wall or carved into the top, leafy portion of a tree is fascinating.
CANVAS Outdoor Museum Show 2015
The Hula is a perfect example of an artist that thinks outside of the box. He painted his creation underneath one of the bridges leading to Palm Beach Island – using what looked like a paddle board and scaffolding. The final product is breathtaking (as are his other murals).
Last year we were super excited to find out that an outdoor museum show was coming to our neck of the woods. CANVAS 2015 was such a success – so much of a success that they are coming back for 2016.
WHAT’S IN STORE FOR CANVAS 2016
Known as the nation’s largest outdoor museum show, CANVAS 2016 will go beyond the 20 installations and murals of its predecessor. Renowned artists from around the world are going to showcase their art in an interactive and innovative way for everyone to enjoy.
The undertaking of CANVAS 2016 is broken down into two phases. The first phase slated for completion in November of this year includes a Kids Art Park, Chamber Park, Installation Park as well as other murals and installations on private buildings throughout the Downtown West Palm Beach area.
I am very much looking forward to the Kids Park as it will house an outdoor classroom perfect for my boys to learn about the artists and spark creativity! They will even be able to partake in painting a wall alongside one of the talented artists.
Interested in creating a mural for the CANVAS Local Showdown, taking place in the Northwood Village Creative Arts Disctrict? The CANVAS Selection committee is currently accepting proposals. Seven artists will be granted the honor of painting one of the walls in the district and during the November event, the public gets to vote on their favorite wall. The lucky artist that wins will be slated to be a part of CANVAS 2017 in the main Installation Park. This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for local artists! Street is is indeed a great opportunity for the artist to share their work. The children’s park is just amazing with the classroom area outside like that and what an amazing opportunity for the kids to work besides an artist like that. I love the video and wish they had something like the outdoor museum like this in our area. They have however been doing more street art in different places in our little town. Thanks for sharing this outdoor museum.
