I have to thank Facebook. Yes, I am a devout FB follower…I love catching up and communicating with friends near and far, from the comfort of my home. Facebook has also allowed me to “meet” a lot of my current blog readers – love it!
About 5 years ago (or more), I reconnected with one of my greatest friends – our friendship began in middle school and continued on through high school. We would put on plays, makeup newscasts, and have a super fun time. My parents had gotten me a video camera for my 16th birthday and we put it to good use! For a health project in 6th grade, we videotaped different segments related to what we were learning in class. I remember like it was yesterday – Julie, myself, and a handful of other girlfriends dancing around my backyard singing, “Milk it does a body…” I promise I won’t post any videos although I need to dig them up and watch them – we had so much fun!!
This past weekend, Julie and I reunited (we had hung out a few times over the years – her parents live 5 minutes from me!). The boys and I were invited to spend some time with her parents’ community pool. Once my towel hit the lounge chair, Julie and I started talking, and it felt like there weren’t years between when we hung out as kids and that very moment. The kids started playing together as if they hung out all the time! It was so nice to catch up on everything going on in our lives.
When it was time to go, and we were gathering up our towels and other belongings, I look to my right and just smiled. There was N sitting on the grass with Julie’s daughter – hanging out and talking. It reminded me of when Julie and I would hang out. It warmed my heart that my boys got to hang out with Julie’s girls and that there was a bond forming. At the car, we said our good-byes, with promises to Facetime (isn’t that hysterical? – back in the day I would promise to write LOL).
See – Facebook isn’t as bad as my husband says it is…Thank You, Facebook 🙂

I feel exactly the same way. Facebook has allowed me to reconnect with many of my friends in Germany. Even though we live an ocean apart, we can now share our lives with each other. It’s wonderful.
