Super Cool Valentine’s Day Card DIY Idea

valentines day card

Trying to find the “perfect” Valentine’s Day card to hand out to my sons’ classmates was hard.  Traditionally I would go to Target and purchase Valentine’s Day cards with their favorite character(s) of the moment – usually these cards would be accompanied by candy.

This year has thrown me for a bit of a loop – although a healthy, positive loop – their new elementary school doesn’t allow sugary foods to be given out for birthdays or any other holiday.   Also, I am a bit of a Pinterest-lover, so I wanted to find a creative and fun alternative to the commercial sugary V-Day card varieties.

I came across this one idea, and immediately knew it was the perfect reflection of both of the boys – jackpot!  If you have boys (or brothers), you may know that they love – for a lack of better words – bodily sounds.  My boys have a tendency to laugh and sometimes “force” certain sounds, not to my approval (although I sometimes have to muffle my giggles).

The PERFECT Valentine’s Day card design that I encountered involved a whoopee cushion.

I created a Word doc with the following text:

I ordered mini whoopee cushions from Amazon (click on the image for purchasing info).

I purchased the card stock at Target and printed them two-up, like so.

Leave space for your child to sign their name beneath “Your Friend” – I like when my boys sign their cards as it makes it that much more personal.  Staple the whoopee cushion to the card stock and viola!  Here is the final product:

In total, aside from the printer ink, I spent about $13.00 and love the final product!
