While looking through fashion magazines and internet articles and fashion blogs, one Spring 2013 trend seems to catch my eye a lot. Pale shades and textures filled the runway when this season was initially introduced, and it is debuting mainstream in many forms, eccentricities, and price points. These pales colors aren’t the pastels of the 80’s, but calmer and prettier (I think). I, personally, don’t know if this trend will make it to by closet for a few reasons:
- I have olive-toned skin. The pale pinks may help boost color to my face, but put a pale green on me and my skin color ruins in.
- My husband is very adept at pinpointing my new clothing, shoes, handbags…on one hand I adore that he notices these “little” things; on the other – it dampers my love of shopping and all things new and pretty
- I am a bit afraid of color – on me. I love to look at the different color options for clothing, etc. but when it actually comes to bringing that beautifully toned shirt to the register for check-out, I freeze up. Hence my staple denim and white/black top paired with a fun pair of flats, jewelry and bag (if I have time in the AM to pick these colorful portions out).
Enough about me – here are some soft-colored pieces that I can see myself wearing. Each of these pieces are “noncommittal” for me…I can add my neutrals for comfort and still enjoy the trend.
