I’ve come to terms with the fact that once I turned 40, my eyesight took a turn for the “not-so-good”. But it is OK.
My ophthalmologist told me that if I didn’t need reading glasses by 40, then I’d more than likely need them shortly after. It is like he jinxed me. I turned 40 and BAM I couldn’t read the medicine bottle directions. I denied it forever, then took his advice to stop by Dollar Tree and pick up a pair or two at +1.00.
He said not to jump too far up in magnification because once my eyes get used to it – there’s no turning back.
Reading Glasses Styles For All
I’m embracing it now (after 4 years of holding my phone, article, book that much further from my face).
I took my doctor’s advice and headed over to Dollar Tree. They had quite a selection and at $1.00 a pop I may have bought five (or six). One for upstairs, one for downstairs in the kitchen, one for the family room, one for the car, one for my bag…
These glasses definitely served their purpose, but I wanted to find some other fun ones to add to my collection.
The Shopping Options are Endless
Costco had a four pack of frames, each with matching cases. I gave one to my mom and have the others in my office, kitchen junk drawer, and nightstand.
Target has some great options, although none with the low +1.00 magnification.
I catch myself gravitating to the revolving displays at CVS, Walgreens and the such. When I find a cool pair, I feel like I hit the jackpot!
Readers.com advertised an amazing deal of three for $30 on Instagram and I am hooked.
Below are some of my favorites!
It’s hard to “get older”. I’ve worn glasses since I was in the 5th grade for nearsightedness. Switching to contact lenses could not have made me happier in my senior year of high school. (I didn’t have to swap back and forth between eyeglasses and prescription sunglasses.)
I still am refusing bifocals so am completely at ease with donning a pair of reading glasses over my contacts. The selections below are some of my favorites and only a smidgen of what’s out there!
Where do you like to pick up your reading glasses? I’m always game for a new pair (or 5).
