Today, Pauline Phillips, most popularly known as Dear Abby passed away at the age of 94. What a long, wonderful life she has lived!
Her first advice column was back in 1956. It eventually was syndicated in 1,400 newspapers, with over 9 million readers a day. In 2000, her daughter Jeanne took over the column once it was announced that Pauline had Alzheimer’s.
“I have lost my mother, my mentor and my best friend,” Jeanne Phillips said in a statement. “My mother leaves very big high heels to fill with a legacy of compassion, commitment and positive social change. I will honor her memory every day by continuing this legacy.”
Pauline lived a fruitful life and was loved by millions. Rest in peace Abby.
