Once I started needing to drive more for business, I realized the need for podcast recommendations.
There comes a time when listening to the radio in the car gets a bit boring. There are too many commercials, songs being played over and over, and DJs seems to come and go just as I get to like them.
Since I am not a fan of the radio and not a subscriber to any of the streaming music apps, I’ve turned to podcasts when it comes to driving entertainment.
I’ve been flipping through dozens and dozens of podcasts and have come to look forward to the following selections.
Trader Joe’s (Inside)
When I found out that Trader Joe’s produces its very own, I had to check it out for myself. Trader Joe’s is known for being somewhat buttoned up when it comes to the inner workings of the company.
This monthly podcast is hosted by the Captains (store managers) and Crew Members (employees) keeps me coming back episode after episode. For a company that doesn’t utilize traditional advertising, shelves stocked mainly with private-labeled products, it peeks my curiosity to learn what I can as to how they have become the super popular mega non-marketers that they are!
On an aside, there is another podcast entitled Talkin’ Trader Joe’s. The co-hosts are HUGE TJ fans, more so than myself – and I just noticed that their logo and slogan have been taken down from Stitcher because a legal notice from Trader Joe’s! One more podcast, Trader Hoes, is described as “two hoes dishing out weekly reviews of Trader Joe’s products with new episodes every Monday. Don’t know if I will “favorite” this one…
Social Media Marketing with Michael Stelzner
Social Media marketing and management are a huge part of my blog and my career. I started Pellerini before social media was a vehicle to get the word out about my latest articles. Once it became mainstream, I knew I had to learn everything there is to learn about Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, LinkedIn, Instagram, Snapchat, TikTok, and every other platform that comes to fruition.
Social Media Marketing with Michael Stelzner is my favorite podcast for this particular topic because it is easy to consume. Michael interviews some of the top strategists and innovators when it comes to navigating the social media world.
Encyclopedia Womannica
I stumbled on Encyclopedia Womannica when I first began listening to podcasts. The five minute snippets introduce me to powerful, inspirational, and/or interesting women that I more than likely haven’t learned about in my history books but wished I did. Some are womanpreneurs, some are villains, some are inventors – the list is endless!
Each month, they talk about a different “genre” of women – one of my favorites being the “Steminists” – women in science. I’ve been binging episodes to catch up, but know I’ll be bummed once I do.
Mob Queens
First introduced via Stitcher’s “Recommended Podcasts”, I am now fully obsessed with Mob Queens. In season one, hosts Jessica and Michael delve into the life of Anna Genovese. Anna was the wife to Vito Genovese – a major mafia player. Anna isn’t your “typical” mafia wife.
Her super exciting life is filled with twists and turns and makes me look forward to long drives so I can find out what happens next. Jessica and Michael gel so well together. The musical interludes are very appropriate, interviews with key people are exciting, and the real life happenings with Michael’s own journey as an adoptee add so much to the podcast.
Merriam-Webster Word a Day
Who doesn’t want to expand their vocabulary? It’s super easy to now with the Merriam Webster Word a Day podcast. Impress friends and coworkers. It even helps with crossword puzzles and Scrabble. All you need is two to three minutes each day. Just saying…
