As I learn more and more about GMO’s (genetically modified organisms) and watch more TV specials (i.e. 20/20 this past weekend about what you are really served when you order certain fish and shellfish at restaurants), I have become more and more alert to what I am eating and what I am serving my family. The Conscious Box is a non-invasive, non-stressful way of introducing organic food and body care into my household.
This box is full of cool goodies – some that I heave heard of, some that are new to me. I enjoy opening this “gift” each month, as I do each of my monthly box subscriptions. 🙂
Here’s what was in November’s box:
Freekeh Grains – 8 grams of protein, 4 grams of fiber, low-fat, and just as easy to cook as rice, this all-natural ancient grain is the perfect change of pace from the everyday starches. This food is also good for our land, farmers, and our health! I am looking forward to incorporating this starch into my weekly menu.
Justin’s Organic Peanut Butter Cups – I know and love this brand…especially their peanut butter cups. How did I hear about Justin’s? I read the GMP article before Halloween and freaked out – my husband, sons and I all LOVE Reeses Peanut Butter Cups…what to do??? I was walking around Whole Foods with G…and we found the solution to our problem. These are totally delicious.Take the idea of peanut butter cups and blend it with the finest organic peanut butter and then lusciously wrap it in fair trade, organic chocolate of the highest quality, and voilà! You’ve got Justin’s Organic Peanut Butter Cups! Cut them into fourths, stick in a toothpick, and you’ve got an incredible holiday snack to enjoy while you mingle.
L’Ecuyer’s Gourmet Caveman Rub – L’Ecuyer’s Gourmet is here to spice up the season. Chili powder, cumin, sea salt, oregano, and a whole mess of peppers makes this seasoning rub something that’ll get Santa sweating from excitement. Cavemen need flavor too! This is something that my husband is going to LOVE!
Organic India Tulsi Tea – Tulsi, also know as Holy Basil, has long been considered the “Queen of Herbs” in India. Empowered with immune support that helps the body relieve stress, a cup of Tulsi tea can settle the mind and soul as the final days of the year begin to count down. Take a moment and relax— you and I both deserve it!
Pamela’s Backing & Pancake Mix – Pancakes are a ritual in our home on the weekends (and some special weekdays). Chocolate chip pancakes are a staple in the household. I have been looking for a healthier alternative to the almost-premade mix we currently use. 8 grams of whole grains per serving and YES, totally gluten-free 🙂 What are you waiting for? Get that griddle started!
SweetLeaf Sweat Drops Sweetener – High fructose corn syrup are bad words in my household. Then I was introduced to Sweet Drops, a crafty stevia-based sweetener by SweetLeaf. Add it to anything for a sweet, sugar-free flavor! Goodbye, morning sugar crash—hello sweet, sultry drops of joy 🙂 With the vanilla flavoring – delish!
Teeccino – These teas are bold, brilliant, and packed with powerful health benefits naturally released by the herbs, grains, fruits, and nuts inside. Non-acidic and containing the prebiotic inulin, Teeccino rebalances the negative effects of coffee. I really enjoyed the French Roast and Vanilla Nut, and can’t wait to try the Mocha.
Simply Organic – This little spice packs a power punch that’s indispensable in the kitchen. We found this in Whole Foods and the brand has become a staple in our household. It is not expensive, and is very flavorful!
Lush Nuts – This treat of peanuts coated in dark cocoa followed with a kick of spice give you a little warmth on those cold days! I as hesitant to try this as I am spice-disabled. I am trying! I made my husband try them, and he said they were “Dana” safe. They were. He is a spice-nut, so he didn’t notice the little tingle that I was able to taste…but no complaints on my end…they were delish!
Avalon Organics – I am very familiar with the Avalon Organic’s brand. To receive a product in my November box – super excited!! Avalon Organic’s coconut and olive oils moisturize while organic shea butter protects against drying. I love me some super moisturizing lip balm!
Overall, the past two months of Conscious Boxes have been WONDERFUL!
Do you receive Conscious Boxes? I highly recommend!
