The Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade is like my Super Bowl…I look forward to this EVERY year. This is MY time to sit on the couch and watch TV for hours 🙂 I love looking at all of the floats, new and old and listening to the musical talents of super stars as well as High School bands that are so lucky to be there! I feel like a little kid and call my boys into the room if they have already snuck out, telling them “Sponge Bob is coming on next” or “Wow, look at Spiderman”.
My dad took my sister and I one year, when we were little. It was really cool! Afterwards we ate at a traditional New York deli, and then we headed back to Long Island – to my mom and a cooking turkey. I hope to bring my boys there one year – maybe next? – so they can experience it first hand.
Click HERE to watch a great video from the History Channel about the history of the parade itself.
One of my new favorite books (as of last year when I came across it) –
Balloons over Broadway: The True Story of the Puppeteer of Macy’s Parade
This is a great book to read to the kids the night before Thanksgiving OR while the turkey is cooking on the day of. Click on the book image above to get more information!
I hope all of you have a wonderful and safe Thanksgiving! I am VERY thankful for YOU, my readers!!
