I keep hearing about microwave popcorn being bad for you. Something about the chemicals that are emitted from the bag when the popcorn is popping. That’s scary considering that popcorn is conventionally known to be a great, healthy snack.
What’s a movie without popcorn? (Please note that when I speak of popcorn as a healthy snack, I am not including movie theater popcorn, however delicious it is!)
Here’s how you can pop “healthier” popcorn right at home – sans microwave.
What you’ll need:
1/4 cup kernels and 1 tbsp. vegetable oil.
What you need to do:
Combine those two ingredients in a large pot. The kernels should be in one layer. Cover and put heat to Medium. Once you hear a pop, place a lid on top and move the pot back and forth until the popping slows down – about 3 minutes.
You’re all done! Add your favorite toppings. I love to sprinkle white cocoa powder on top…YUMMMMM.
