Earthing…what comes to your mind when you hear that word (a word I personally never knew existed until today)?
Apparently, earthing is being considered as one of the biggest health trends of 2013. Earthing is a movement based on the fact that the Earth’s surface contains natural electrical charges, that when walked on barefoot for a short period of time, sleeping/laying/sitting on the ground, will allow for numerous health benefits. There is evidence that this energy can aid in reducing inflammation, improve sleeping habits, and reduce stress. I think I am going to take my shoes off right now!
All kidding aside, I think they may be on to something. Even just outside helps to clear my mind. Stephen Sinatra, a cardiologist, and co-author of Earthing recommends trying to walk outside barefoot for about 40 minutes a day. Whether it is on grass, dirt, concrete, sand, even in water, Dr. Sinatra says that this will help you to “connect to the Earth and feel better” because you are drawing in the Earth’s energy.

Sometimes I don’t have the time to go outside and walk around or rest my feet on the ground, but I read that if you have ceramic tile floors and they are laid on a concrete slab or the ground itself, you may be able to reap the benefits. Cha-ching – I walk around on my ceramic tile floors barefoot all the time!
Homework! Read up on Earthing (there is a website that I found most informative) and tell me what you truly think…I am very curious!
