What an amazing past few days! Delray Beach Fashion week kicked off Saturday night and it has been a blast so far. I was gifted tickets to three of the events and I am so glad to have had the opportunity to attend, and to report back to you!
A LITTLE ABOUT DELRAY BEACH
Let me give you a bit of a background of where this amazing fashion event is taking place. Delray Beach is located in Southeast Florida. It’s north of Boca Raton but south of West Palm Beach. Known as the “Village by the Sea”, Delray has grown into its own with great boutiques and restaurants – all minutes from the beautiful beach. I’ve lived in South Florida for 20 years (wow, time flies) and when I first visited Delray Beach, Atlantic Avenue in particular, it was comprised of small shops, a few eateries, but nothing like what it has developed in to today.
ABOUT DELRAY BEACH FASHION WEEK
Delray Beach Fashion Week started 3 years ago, with this current year being its biggest ever. Created by the Downtown Development Authority and local downtown merchants, this week-long event’s main goal is to increase awareness of the great shops and designers within the downtown Delray Beach district.
DBFW KICK OFF
Saturday night’s kick-off was nothing less than spectacular. The Colony Hotel on East Atlantic Avenue was the backdrop to the first fashion show of the week.

The hosts, Suzanne Boyd of WPEC-TV 12 and Jules Gauglardi, owner of Roxy Lulu (a shop in Delray Beach) were the perfect pair to emcee the night! The theme for the evening was “Havana Nights” and featured resort wear from a myriad of stores in downtown Delray Beach. Here are some of my favorite outfits:

DAY 2 – “EVENING WITH GREAT GATSBY” EVENING WEAR FASHION SHOW
The next event, held this past Monday at the Delray Marriott was two fashion shows – one fashion show showcasing evening wear from over 25 of Downtown Delray’s boutiques and the second one will be comprised of clothing by local designers. Proceeds for this event benefited Achievement Centers for Children and Families.
After checking out the silent auction items, we took our seats and were dazzled by the amazing voice of Loni Shambles. She was A-MAZING. (Not to mention the second song she sang was my wedding song!)
Here are my favorite outfits from both shows:
Here’s the final catwalk:
TIMELESS FASHION SHOW AND LUNCHEON AT ATLANTIC PLAZA
Tuesday’s daytime event included both a luncheon by Free House and fashion show featuring a dozen or so boutiques in the Downtown Delray Beach area.

Thankfully the weather was wonderful, a bit chilly for Florida standards, but sunny and clear none the less.
In today’s day and age, I feel it is hard as a small boutique to compete against the big box stores such as Nordstrom or Macy’s. After viewing the fashion-forward clothing available at these adorable local boutiques, I will think twice before driving to the nearest mall. What better way to support your community than shopping at your local stores – especially the fabulous ones in Downtown Delray.
There are events going on through this coming Saturday, so if you are local and interested in attending, visit the Delray Beach Fashion Week website for more information and ticket sales!

How fun! I missed out on the fashion week in SF this past year due to scheduling conflicts. I love attending NYFW but also love getting to see emerging designers that haven’t made it to the big leagues yet!!
