When I first heard of this book, I thought it would be a take off of The Nanny, solely by the title alone. It had decent reviews, so I ordered it via Paperback Swap.
I’ll just tell you the premise so that I will not give it away should you want to read it. Picture a wealthy family in New York City. The husband, an attorney, comes from a lot of money. The wife, a producer for a highly-rated news station and main character, Jamie is from a middle-class family. Do you start to see where the plot will go? Either way, they have three children who very rarely get to see their dad because he is forever travelling for work; and Jamie works late a lot. This neglect is falling hard on their oldest son, Dylan, and Jamie needs to find a way to help him out of his slump filled with anxiety and devoid of a father figure. Someone mentions to her that she should look into getting a manny – someone who can relate to Dylan, toss the ball around with him, and hopefully get him to open up and push the anxiety away. Jamie finds one, randomly – and that is all I am going to tell!
It was an easy read, and at times I didn’t want to put it down. If you happen to read it, I would love to hear what you think!
